Notre Dame started 20-0 vs Miami yesterday.I know that things didn't go well at Texas for Harsin as OC. However I would hope that the Big money donors and decision makers would look at what Harsin is doing as a HC and what Manny Diaz is going as a DC in Miami and go "maybe we had other problems". As far as Harsin he makes 1 mill per season a nice raise of about 400% should cure those.
Anyway there are other guys Id consider before him but you see my point there are a lot of guys who should be ahead of Herrman and he's one of them.
Exactly! Anybody acting like the first staff Strong had was underpaid is absolutely crazy. Then he changed it the 2nd year (not because they got offered better jobs) then he changed it the 3rd year (NOT because they got better jobs)! See a pattern of something? No strong thought the best coaches money could buy were les koenning and Shawn Watson.
Where did I say I wanted Strong no matter what? Please show me. Just to clear it up I'm fine with firing Strong. What I'm not for though is change just for the sake of change. I'm not for firing Strong and bringing in Tom Herrman. Why you ask? Because there is very little evidence to suggest that Herrman is much better than Strong. He might be,but I'm not firing Strong for a maybe. If your going to fire Strong go get a sure thing, and if you can't nothing wrong with waiting another year. The same guys will be available this time next year.Listen...you want Strong no matter what. We all like Strong as a person. He is NOT a championship coach. Coaches who love their players and players who love their coaches is NOT good enough. If you love him so much play like you want to keep him here.
You also act like if Texas doesn't get a top 5 coach in CF that Texas may as well keep Strong. I don't think Strong is in the top 30 best coaches. I actually think it is much lower based on who he has hired and what he has done with the talent he has. His only saving graces are he is a good man....and can recruit well.
That's what people were saying about Chris Peterson for years. At mid majors especially Boise they coach a little different than you would at a bigger program. I do think Brain Harsin will be a good HC at a program some day that's why i put him on the list. I also put him on the list though to show he has more coaching expierence and same success as Herrman. I have a feeling if Harsin was at Houston he'd be the flavor of the month.Fools gold and a mid major HC. He was beaten by a better HC, Bohls with less talent and better coaching. Didn't like him as OC. Utes HC is legit.
I am sad Strong isn't working out at Texas. But, his results, over 3 seasons, suggest that he isn't in the top 40 of coaches out there. 5 power five conferences and he has finished 4th and 5th in the Big 12. He is currently in 6th place this year (he is trending worse than when he started). Over 3 seasons, Strong is averaging a 5th place finish. 5th place finish x 5 power five conferences = 25. At least 25 teams and coaches are better than Strong over the past 3 seasons. Could Texas beat teams like Houston from non-power five conferences? I don't think so. While the Big 12 only has 10 teams, the ACC has 14 teams, PAC 12 has 12, SEC has 14, and the Big 10 has 14. Could Texas finish 5th in the SEC, Big 10, PAC, or ACC? I don't think so.Listen...you want Strong no matter what. We all like Strong as a person. He is NOT a championship coach. That's why I'm a Malzahn fan. I think he'd recruit well here. Being a firmer HS coach in Arkansas I'm sure has some Texas connections and would be able to build relationships with the state coaches. His spread is very similar to what Gilbert is running and fits better in the big 12 than in the SEC.Give me a coach that can recruit Texas, & play and defend the spread. The ACC, PAC, and Big 12 play a similar style of football. I suggest we look there.

He's coach.ed in the national title game has wind against Saban under his belt. To me he's a perfect fit. I don't worry about how he was on the hot seat at Aubrun. That's what Aubrun does is run off coaches.
You won't have to worry about Todd Graham
Had to be. Either that or family in AZ? Pitt is a good jobGraham got caught up in the Arizona (both teams) coaching death traps. He should have stayed at Tulsa. He had the best tight end attack this side of the New England Patriots, at least in college. I have no idea why he left Pittsburg? Maybe money?
To me if you can't get one of the following
John Harbaugh
Chris Peterson
Kyle whittingham
Gus Malzahn
Brian Harsin
If you can't get one of those 5 I'd just keep Strong another year. Herrman isn't even on my list right now. Just hasn't done enough imo. One great year doesn't make you a good HC and his team has really struggled the last month. I know Harsin just lost but he has 4 years of HC expierence under his belt already had a 12 win season and even with today's loss still probably wins 10+
Didn't Texas nearly drop one @wyoming with Mack and VY? I seem to remember a nail biter up there
