In 2023, Florida passed a controversial law cracking down on undocumented immigrants.
The law carries some of the harshest penalties in the nation for companies that try to hire people who entered the U.S. illegally.
When it passed, critics said it would exacerbate existing labor shortages in industries such as construction, agriculture and tourism.
In our story today, my colleague Arian Campo-Flores and I looked at what's happened in Florida since the law took effect and talked to small business owners about their experiences.
We found that the law prompted some workers to leave the state and made filling jobs more difficult for some small businesses. But it also hasn't resulted in the huge disruptions some predicted.
