Are you old timers getting 300+ also on Testosterone? I’ll definitely be adding that to the supplements after I’m done providing my special sauce to the wife.

I got 275 when I was 21 headed to PCB for spring break. I was probably 170lb at the time.

Best one rep was 385, but the coolest thing I ever did was on a deployment in 2015 I had a buddy ask me how many times I could rep 225 and said I had no idea. It was around the time of the nfl combine so we decided to go for it. I did 25 reps and decided at that point I could have played in the nfl if I wanted to I just chose a different path 😂. Now I’m happy if I can get 225 for 8-10. I just turned 40 last month so I’m officially an old

I was able to do 225 x 9. Never maxed it out.

I was faster than I was strong.

I'm 57 with a torn right labrum so I cant barbell press.

Last March I set a goal of dumbbell chest pressing 200lbs

Slow, steady progression and I hit 204 last Saturday pain free. I realize it's not 300+ bench press but it was a stretch goal from me given my slap tear.

Just getting those 102lb dbs up and in position is a challenge to all sorts of stabilizer muscles

Thanks for giving me an excuse to brag😎

53. 6’5 260. Started going to the gym with Mrs Bronk in August. Been going 4 times a week since. Started taking HGH and Test the first part of November.

last week I did I rep max 275.

When I was in the Marine Corp I weighed 205 and was able to do 275 for 1 rep max.

my goal is to hit 300 by the end of 2021.

My heavy weight lifting days are long gone. I have arthritis in my elbow and shoulder issues. Not sure if heavy lifting when I was young contributed, but I know racing motorcycles did. Or crashing them anyway.

Just hoping to stay healthy enough try ride my dirtbike for another 10 years or so. I don’t miss lifting heavy weights.

But the answer is 315, about 20 years ago. I weighed about 185 then. 215 now. 6’1”

Getting old ain’t for pussies.

Dumbells give way better results for chest development. I did not realize that until I got much older

My highest one-rep bench max (without bench press shirt) was 455 lbs when I was 36 (I’m 46 now). Unfortunately I tore my bicep tendon a couple years after that in a non-weight lifting accident, so I seldom go above 315 lbs anymore. The older I get, the more I keep falling apart. lol
May be a stupid question, but what’s a bench press shirt?

I'm 5'8", and always between 173-180lbs. In my late 20s I did 225 for 7-reps, which I was super pumped about. I'm 37 now, and haven't done bench in years, but I'm guessing I could squeeze out 1-2 reps. I never officially tried for a one rep max, but I once did 245, and stopped there.

1 set of 10 @ 200 lbs in 1981. Or maybe it was just one rep @ 200 lbs in 1981. Either way that was it. (and I was working up to that for about 6 weeks).

It's for powerlifting. It doesn't stretch and is super tight across the front. Helps add just a little bit on the bottom end.

And to answer the main question, I did 490 in college as a junior and never came close to it again. I started up some intense workouts a few years back, after 10 years off, and was able to get back to pressing 405 comfortably (w/out a spot) for reps. But then I got lazy again. My max right now, might be north of 250... maybe.

Idk but Hardy was genetically descended from Hosea Taylor who held all the powerlifting records at LHS. Hosea played DT for Baltimore Colts back in the 70's.
That Longview high school team was one of the best ever in the state. Taylor, Swisher and my cousin Mike Mock were on that team. They lost to Odessa Premium 10-9 in the semis in the Astro Dome but were up 9-7 with a few seconds to go in the game when the Odessa kid kicked a 60+ yd. field goal to win the game as time expired. One of the all time great defensive games with two loaded teams..

I was a baseball and tennis guy. Best bench was 375 but if I worked over 350 that impacted mechanics for me.

310 but more impressive to me was doing 225 15 times. I was probably 40. At 55 I’m still benching but probably could only do 225 once.”"

480lbs at 22 years of age. Started having AC/ joint and shoulder issues. Had surgery at 24. Thought all was good, and started my path to get to my goal of 500lbs.. Other shoulder required surgery, then. I've since had elbow/tricep surgery 3 times from 2016 - 2018. The mechanics of my left arm are different, now. I can still rep 315 for 15 reps.. I'm 42 years old now. I want to give it one more shot to hit a 500lb max .....

senior yr of college...weighed 165 lbs and benched 320. tried to double up my body weight but those last 10 lbs might as well have been 50 lbs...just couldn’t get there.

was able to bench 25 reps of 225 lbs with feet up in air. can’t lift sh*t now.
Yeah I remember being able to hit 315 about 3 or 4 times, after I put those 10's on, I thought I was gonna die.

345 about three months ago. I eat like poo poo and don’t diet right at all but I constantly make it a purpose to hit the gym. Very undisciplined diet but dedicated gym guy. Some strong son of a Bs on OB 💪🏼😳💪🏼

i’m sure they’re quite a few powerlifters on this board that can bench 400 plus (or have benched that much). It might be more common than I know. I just don’t see that many guys at the gym that can push that kind of weight or at least I didn’t when I could go to the gym. Then again I don’t work out at golds. That just seems like a lot of weight for most guys.
I’ve been in the gym 32 years and have seen few throw up 400+ pounds. Very few. My best was 272 pounds at 36 years old and weighing 168. Documented lift.
