This really has been something of a down year for me personally. I don't know why as much as I admire Michael Phelps and what he's accomplished the Olympics were kind of boring. It's as if the Unites States is so much better at everything we going to at least medal if not win the gold in everything. The rest of the world is over matched against us.

I guess if I had to pick one outstanding performance in football it would be Lamar Jackson against FSU. Even if he doesn't win the Heisman that was a remarkable game.

Lebron James leading the Cavs from being down 3 to 1 was great.

But for me number one in 2016 was the Chicago Cubs finally winning the World Series. I'm not a baseball fan but everyone knows the Cubs and their lovable loser history. Everyone knows they haven't won a WS in over 100 years. But when I saw that they were playing great I thought well let me see if history is going to be made. They made it to the WS for the first time since 1945 and to make it even more interesting they played the Cleveland Indians who hadn't won a WS themselves since 1948. And I'm telling you that Game 7 was straight out of Hollywood. It has to be one of the most watched WS games of all time. So how can you not be happy for someone who has gone more than 100 years without winning a title?

So here's to the Chicago Cubs my number one story in sports in 2016.

Please respond and give your thoughts.

I would have to go with the victory over Notre Dame to start the season. At the time it felt like we were on our way, and to win it the way we did, it grabbed the fan bases, and the nations attention. Only to be disappointed.
Close 2nd would be I was downtown in SAN Francisco during game 7 of NBA finals. As soon as the choke job was done, I left hotel room to get the cities vibe of losing. I witnessed a drunk fool in Warriors uniform pound on a hood of unidentifiable cop car and 4 unis jumped out. The dude just sat on the curb and put his hands behind his back.

Same as its always been for 25 of the last 50 years. Beating Texas. Never gets old.

Pretty terrible year overall. These were my highlights:

1. Win over ND. We have an ugly overall record against the Irish, so it was nice to finally get another win, regardless of whether they turned out to be any good.

2. Defeating Baylor -- and apparently knee-capping them for the remainder of the season (sending them from No. 8 to .500). Not a very fun game to watch, actually, but a very satisfying win.

3. Going on a 22-0 run to take down No. 3 OU in basketball.

4. Foreman winning the Doak.

For me. No question it's the Cowboys being 11-1 and being the best team in the NFL. Hopefully they can win Super Bowl #6!
That's a good one. I don't follow the NFL anymore. If I did, my Fall weekends would consist of all football (as they did during my bachelorhood). That doesn't fly with my wife, so I watch NCAA instead.

I'm single now. During FB season I watch from 11AM to midnight on Saturdays and noon to 11PM on Sundays. Damn I love football!

hehe.. that period in life is burnt into my subconscious.

Found my way thru ending up blind drunk with 5'4"/240lb chic's, black label scotch coupled with more than a decent amount of illegal substance's.
