Why anybody likes him is beyond me. All the analysts over hyped him coming in to this year and it inflated his already large ego. I love how he is sucking it up this year. I hope he is out of the league soon which is looking more and more likely as this year goes on.

He's set for life financially so he's got that going for him

Oh jeez. I could have sworn you were on here the other day complaining that you were arranging your work schedule to be off on Saturdays to watch Longhorn games, maybe I’m getting you mixed up with someone else. But just to be safe would you mind posting your last 3 tax returns for verification purposes.
i live in a trailer so what do I know. Sure Mayfield’s acting douchey and he should his mouth.

Maybe you should have a tv crew follow you around documenting your luxurious life and we’ll see if we spot any doucheyness.

why anyone would take the time to check up on whatever Mayfield is doing is beyond me.Seriously.

Dude---- the trailer park schtick is played out homie. It was funny for a while, then I went and swam in your pool. These dudes all know you don't live in a trailer park.

I give you credit for keeping the "bit" going for a while but now it's gone from a bit to a gimmick to nails on a chalkboard. You're smart enough to disarm people and make your points without your "burning tires" and "cinder blocks" . Be you, hoss.

Belldozer,

Baker is an asshat. He is becoming what everyone said he would if he didn’t grow up. OU fans told everyone that he “feeds” off this stuff. We told them it’s bullshit and he’ll get a huge dose of humble pie.

if he doesn’t get his shit together and stop being a piling steam of douche, hell flame out of the NFL within 2 years as a big time bust.

if he can keep quiet and not bring so much negative attention to himself and focus on HIS job and not every person that has “slighted” him, he might turn out alright.

As it stands he is a petulant little child that throws tantrums when things don’t go his way. Hell, maybe he is bipolar.

Hey I’m not arguing one point you made. The fact is statistically speaking he’s one of the all time greats to play in college. He’s financially set for life. Not bad for a 2 time walk on. If he flickers out in the NFL who cares? It certainly doesn’t hurt my feelings, don’t even watch pro ball.

Would you like me to post a pic of my place again? You are all invited over anytime, btw. What did you say your address was again?

. I haven’t worked a weekend in over 30 years and haven’t wanted to work a weekend in as long.
10-4 I must have confused you with someone else. My bad . There was a poster on here a week or so ago that was talking about he’s done scheduling his days off around UT football and he’s drinking a lot when the Horns lose etc? That’s who I thought I was responding to.

No I didn’t ask what vicinity you lived in I was asking for specifics just in case I need to borrow some flour or something :D

There isn't a bigger douche in sports today than Mayfield.
Only the Mad Hatter is a bigger douche.
Check out both his "Miles to go" episode in the post win locker room v TT & his media conference after we rammed the football right down his throat till his tongue hung out. He went totally aggy=)roll

Everything he does is news I guess. He could dress like one of the home alone robbers in a post game interview and it's news. People really love knowing what he's up to.

And love watching him make a fool out of himself. How anyone can defend this guy is beyond me.

He's only set for life if he doesn't blow it. 50+ years is a long way to go w/o another paycheck coming in regardless of what the first few look like. Trust me, I do financial planning with some pro athletes. They look at money a whole lot differently than you and me.

Well, yes. I was watching some damn show last night called “Back in the game” I think and it featured A-Rod helping Evander Holyfield who squandered approx. $275 million. I was thinking to myself why help a guy who squandered a fortune? Why not help someone less fortunate make a fortune. I always liked Evander but after watching that show I can see how he lost his millions, he doesn’t appear to have the smarts real good.

Well, he brings it on himself I would say.

I brought this very thing up when he had that back and forth with Sam after Baker was drafted. I said that he has to tone it down or he'll struggle. I was told that Baker feeds off that and he is going to light it up! Even still today I'm told "it's the new NFL" LOL, being a douche, sucking, and doubling down on being a douche? Good luck with that.

If he wants to be successful he needs to ignore people, or at least not respond to EVERYONE that slights him.

Yeah. Well, that's just more money for the people who are invested in him being on tv for various reasons. I'd defend him if I were a browns fan, because i am a loyal fan. But that's not my team. Sucks for him, sucks for them. At least im not emotionally invested in his success or lack thereof. Some of his haters are, and hey, that's why sports is so fun. I was the same way with tebow and manziel for a while, just really disliked them and found nothing about them I could get behind. Then when they started to consistently fail at the nfl, I bizarrely started rooting for the comebacks that never happened. My hatred wanes and gets replaced with empathy when I start to see abject failure. Hell, I even felt bad for vince young.

With his income level, a healthy investment and a good financial planner can make set him up for life before his contract is up. But you are right, most of these athletes have no concept of the true value of money and end up broke. Some of these guys are smart, living off their side income and putting back the league paychecks. Bradford, Murray, Mayfield- pimping out their contracts cant hurt recruiting.

Part of the bad press is self administered, sure. But my point is the fact that everything he does is news...that's a media thing. Yes totally he needs to tone it down. But he's not the only nfl player on commercials, giving interviews, hanging out on social media, saying what's on his mind and whatnot... yet he's getting a lot of attention anyway as there's constantly a camera in his face and seems like everything he says gets examined by people on espn. It's like, if he sucks, on a suck team, why does anyone care what he says? But they do. I mean i see it like this- Cowherd cant stop talking about him. Riley still gets questions about him, espn talks about him. I go to message boards ran by texas and ok state fans and every one of them has a thread dedicated to Mayfield. Not any other OU players, but him. So maybe part of the problem is everyone going out of there way to pay attention to him. Im guessing he likes it, if he's relevant he can make money off of that.

I think if he wants to be successful he just needs to win. Winners get away with everything. When you arent winning, you dont get away with anything.

Believe it or not there is a VERY high percentage of pro athletes that go broke 5-10 years after they retire. It’s just sad they get all that money and have no idea how to manage it.
