Who is Texas' biggest rival besides OU ....

That's a difficult one for sure. Recently, I'd say it's a toss up between Okie state and maybe Texas Tech but the same can be said of just about anyone we play in the league.
I'd have to say Arkansas, but Texas doesn't play them anymore.
Yeah, that's the story for most of our secondary rivals. Arky, Aggy & Huskers all gone.
Speaking for me TT is the second biggest rival after OK. The road team has won the last 4 games and all 4 games went down to the last play. We'll find out soon enough how good Matt Wells is going to be.
These guys would never admit it, but their "secret" 2nd biggest rival is Texas A&M.
Man how they loath the aggies. The contempt for their farmer cousins just drips off of every post, and the back and forth between the two groups is about 20% of the reason I hang out here.
I know they haven't actually played a game in a while, but there will come a day when the rivalry is renewed on the field, and it will be every bit as bitter and hard fought as it has been in years past.
No, to have a rivalry, you have to respect that rival. We laugh at aggy, roll our eyes and make fun of them. Texas fans have no respect for a&m.
actually, the OP said BESIDES OU and ATM. so. we acknowledge atm is our #2, our side piece, if you will. after that, at this point it's gotta be tech. they're in-state. they get "up" for us. and 2008 happened. but traditionally, and at times moving into the #2 spot even, it's arkansas.

I was reading "TT" and "Okie light", and I was really surprised that no one was saying A&M. Now it makes sense though.

I'll go with Tech, but yea, Arkansas was a great rival, but threw it away to go to the SEC. They haven't won a conference since the SWC and now they struggle to attract Texas talent.
Nebraska was a great rival but since the formation of the Big 12 they beat Texas one time in 16 years. Since leaving to the B1G, they have also been shut out of Texas recruiting, no one cares about them nationally anymore, and they have pretty much lost all appeal as a top school.
Aggsy was a ugly rivalry, they were always pretty sore losers and worse winners. Again, since joining the SEC, they still have no championships, but they do like to scream SEC SEC SEC.
The reason most Texas fans don't respect the aggsy is because they think they are so damn great, but haven't won a conference championship since 1998 or a national title since 1939. Texas has doubled them up in the win column but still they think they are so high and mighty.
You can get a good education from a$m but it's not elite, I guess this depends on the program, but they would have you believe they are second only to Stanford with the way they look down on people who went to Tech or Baylor, or any other school ranked below them in USN report.
The funniest / saddest part about the aggsy is that they hate Texas so much, they would rather a 5'star recruit go to Bama or LSU than to Texas. Even though they will have to face them, and likely lose to them. We always say they hate Texas more than they love themselves, and it's true.
Individually, I have a lot of aggsy friends, they are good guys, but get them in a group and the inner aggsy comes out in full force.

Why does your AD want to play us so bad then? Why not try and get Arkansas? I would be all for that, or how about Nebraska?
No idea, maybe we need another cream puff on our schedule. My guess is there is probably a big money booster who misses the game and told CDC that he would tie his donation to the athletic dept attempting to bring the game back. He tried, and poof the money is there.
