This is a logical extension of the "Why do we still have the electoral college" thread. Why not just a single central Federal government where all representatives from around the country are elected at large - one person, one vote? Then our President and all our senators and representatives could be from the larger cities on the east and west coasts. These places would have great infrastructure - the rest of the country not so much. The reason this is a bad idea is the same reason why an electoral college is necessary.
