I never understood why it was thought necessary to pull out of Afghanistan while knowing the Taliban would take over the country in short order. The Afghan army was doing most of the heavy lifting while we supplied intelligence and air cover with our 2500 troops. Was keeping Afghanistan stable and free from being a terrorist training ground not in our best interest? We have a military presence all over the world because it serves our interest and maintains global stability: South Korea, Germany, Iraq, Qatar, Hondouras, Bahrain, Cuba...etc. So why did we have to leave Afghanistan to let it fall into chaos?
