-played for an iconic team but never won a championship
-injury problems
-great player in his own right who then got overshadowed by his replacement (Derek Jeter)

It seems to me Quinn's legacy is entirely dependent on Manning, analogous to Mattingly's relationship to Jeter. If Texas wins a championship or two in the next few years, Quinn will be remembered fondly as a building block people did not respect enough at the time. If Texas does not, he will be remembered like he is now. Good but not good enough.
