Will Strong calling defense make a difference in season?

I for one think Strong has always been the DC via proxy through VB. They ran his 3-3-5 scheme, his no quarters coverage and so on... I don't think, that when it comes down to TCU, Tech, Baylor that it will matter. I think the OU game can go either way. Tech on the road might be another OSU, but we get TCU and Baylor at home. Beat OU and I think 8-4 is secured. Lose and the odds of that secondary take two of three from TCU, Tech and Baylor are pretty low. KSU? They won't score and maybe the same goes for UWV.

Yes, it can. There are plenty of examples in CFB and NFL of coaches taking over for coordinators and making an impact. Strong himself said it best (believe it or not). Maybe they just need to hear a different voice.
Whether it comes in the form of added confidence, added compatibility, or just a plain kick in the rear. Additionally, Bedford is going back to what he did at Florida, which is coach DBs.
I'm not saying it will make a difference, but it certainly can. We aren't lacking size, speed, or athletic ability. We lack something between the ears.

I'm curious if Bedford is going to have to take a cut in pay due to the demotion? He was being paid for his DC role but if he's just a position coach now I would think that would be adjusted? Maybe it was a guaranteed salary as long as he's employed?

Honestly I'm hoping that letting Bedford take over the DBs will help them learn the position.

Do you remember when TCU was pretty salty on defense? They had a guy named Dick Bumpas as their DC even though Patterson calls the game. Ever since Bumpas has retired, they've looked like shit or Tech, yeah...shit.

Charlie calling the D will likely only mean a few things, back to his bread and butter, simplification and more pressure. You saw some of this last week in the second half.

No he gets paid regardless of what he's doing.

Same no tackling kids running same schemes... The difference is that OU won't run as much hurry-up, nor will they pass as much. Those two difference might make Strong look better, but Tech, TCU, Baylor are all down the road.

Told you... 700 yards, 45 points, 70% 3rd downs, no sacks, 300 rushing yards band he put Perine, Westbrook and Mayfield all in the Heisman race.
