Xavier Worthy Transferring??

With X being Ewers' roommate, he probably felt obligated to force him the ball to avoid any drama at home. Can you just imagine their pillow talk conversations?
They haven’t been roommates in a long time. They were only roommates at the beginning of fall camp when the players were staying in hotels for the first 2 weeks of practice.

One thing to consider.....Texas receivers are mugged every play and it is almost never called. Maybe he wants to go somewhere that the refs give the receiver a chance.
Fair point. If that’s the case, though, watch out, our entire defensive line may want to leave as well. 😂

Could be addition by subtraction. Force Ewers to go through his reads instead of trying to force the ball to Worthy. I would like to see what happens in the bowl game.
I think there is something to that. Watching the Chiefs this year. Mahomes is probably better without Tyrek Hill simply because he’s having to read the defense and find the open guy rather than trying to force the ball to “the guy”

Missouri’s number 1 WR finished 3rd in the SEC in yards is entering the portal… I’m betting we will be a player on him.

If he does he does. I’ve been just as disappointed with him as Ewers this year. Yeah, Ewers missed him a lot, but this guy either can not, or will not react to the ball in the air. If it’s not right on him, you can forget it, he’s not making any effort to go get it. The great ones go get it. Period.
Agreed, he's been one of the biggest disappointments this year--has underachieved--ran 3/4 speed on routs, dropped too many passes and hasn't protected the football enough. He hasn't helped his young quarterback out nearly enough.

He’s a quick screen, JET, crossing route guy. He doesn’t run very good routes at the second level. And his ball skills are suspect.

Dude is a game changer though. Would hate to lose him.

Me too, but our receivers have to help out our young QB. Who knows--if some of these receivers (including Worthy) would've caught these balls they were supposed to catch--maybe Ewers gains more confidence.

guys, this could all be rumor and speculation. if it is, you're ripping a kid that has made a lot of plays and did not appear to cheat us on effort in the game on friday. if he really is leaving, so be it. i watched courtney ramey play for arizona last week-- it's just the way of the world right now until they start regulating this. as it is, we'll be a net positive in the portal.

Has someone called him a POS? I've seen a bunch of "oh well, we'll be fine...I like the guys we have coming back."

And to be honest, if he isn't happy here he needs to leave. But to be forced to respect him if he leaves is ludicrous. I'd be indifferent. I hope he stays, but currently he is an unfinished product as a WR.

I have said this before, but it bears repeating while discussing the portal. I wonder what is going through Ochaun Mathis's and Zach Evans's mind these days. TCU is doing might fine without them.

Per IT, things are trending positively for worthy to stay at Texas.

Bag dropped?
That is awesome news. Worthy has crazy talent and I’m sure he will be even better next year, no matter who the Texas qb is. He gets a lot of criticism but it would be a huge loss if he transfers.

What is going on with him? Why is he trying to transfer? This is news to me and has become a disturbance in the locker room?
He feels he has an easier road to success catching balls from Caleb Williams rather than Ewers not to mention Lincoln Riley's offense

This free transfer rule needs to stop.
Will never happen. Now that the precedent has been set lawyers would have a field day if the NCAA or any other governing body for that matter tried to bring back the transfer and sit out a year program

Correct. The NCAA has no intention of hindering any players ability to make their own choices and maximize their careers. They don't want the heat that will come with "holding" kids back. They will not govern the players any longer, only the Universities and coaches.

I thought players were allowed 1 transfer without having to sit out. Any subsequent transfer, they are required to sit out 1 year. I will also mention, if the P5 or other conferences wanted to put a stop to it, they would have to impose restrictions at the conference level where the real power is. NCAA doesn't have the power anymore.

That's the thing. In this day and age of social media and cancel culture there are not many institutions that are willing to prevent young athletes from making their own decisions. No one wants to take the public lashing when a bunch of players start protesting saying it's unfair that they can't transfer to another school without penalty when coaches and non athletes can do whatever they want. It's not a battle that anyone wants to fight anymore. Teams will just pick up another player and move on.

Some A&M news from the 247 mods:
  • Chris Marshall, Denver Harris, and PJ Williams are probably not coming back.
  • They think Moose, Evan Stewart, Marquis Groves-Killebrew, Jacoby Matthews, Bobby Taylor, and Walter Nolan are staying (let’s see lol)
  • Dindy is a maybe for staying.
  • Tunmise Adeleye might be leaving.
For what it’s worth, 247 is saying that some of these listed Aggie players that are “staying” have been actively talking to other schools (I’d assume via agents or reps).

I agree, however, I am not recommending changing or abolishing it. I am simply saying that small modifications that can curb abuse and/or other unforeseen problems will be successful if the P5 conferences do it as a whole. I think the smaller conferences would follow.

It won’t happen. The age of college free agency has begun.

I think the thing that will happen is you will see some of these big NIL deals prevent players from entering the portal.
