Rising DB Cam Hamiel picked up an offer from new Texas corners coach Mark Orphey last week. I spoke with Hamiel today and asked him what he likes about Texas that has the Longhorns on his list. It wasn't the usual response like CFP runs, academics, city of Austin, favorite player, etc. Hamiel said he really didn't get into college football until a couple of years ago. He watched the movie Interstellar, which stars McConaughey. He then started watching some stuff on social media "and I was like ‘Is that the dude from Interstellar?'" That prompted him to start watching more videos about Texas football and he fell in love with the atmosphere of Texas football.
Hamiel is looking to visit Texas April 26. I'll have more on Hamiel in the 3-2-1 tomorrow night, but I thought that was an interesting story.
