OT: Beaumont Hotel Rec

A bit of a last-minute change of plans is resulting in us visiting some cousins in Beaumont for Thanksgiving. Never spent much time in the area and am trying to find suitable lodgings. AirBnB and VRBO don’t really have any options.

Any recommendations on good hotels? We will need several rooms and we will have multiple kids under five so kid-friendly is preferred. In-room kitchens would be a bonus. Extended family is southwest of the city on a farm but I know the city is small enough where that’s less important.

Realize Beaumont is not known for its glitzy hotel options but any suggestions here would be greatly appreciated!

Climate Change

In 2020 and the middle of COVID the Dems ran on the Climate. It was a top 3 talking point for Joe and other candidates. We were all going to die if we did not join the Paris Climate Accord, restrict fossil fuels and drive electric cars. Was all this fixed by the Build Back Better Inflation Re-Initiation Act? Which when you think about Build Back Better, the Dems only have a chance in 2024 because two moderate Dems: Joe Manchin and Kirsten Sinema, saved energy and inflation from being totally out of control.

Now it is 2024 and I have not heard a single Dem mention the climate. So, did the Dems FIX the climate through Build Back Better? Or did it just drop down to its logical priority for the world? And the Dems are now bragging about record energy production.

Which is a criticism I have of the Dems. Every election is a crisis. But every 4 years there is a different crisis.
For the GOP they stick pretty close to taxes, border, Law and Order, and the economy.

And kudos to both sides for locking up the polarizing loonies.

For the Dems: no AOC or Squad or Elizabeth Warren. And very little Adam Schiff unless you are in California.

the GOP has no MTG, Matt Gaetz, Bobbit (crazy CO woman), Lindsey Graham or Mitch McConnell

Was curious if anything would jump out at me.

-Not sure BYU won’t get an at large bid if they go 12-0 and lose ccg close esp. if SMU runs the table. In fact I feel pretty good that they make it if SMU gets to ccg and loses with the same season result.

-Typical Penn St. season
-LSU two tough ones at home
-Tennessee two tough ones on the road

- Biggest takeaway is, barring the completely unforeseen, it would appear the top four B1G teams are pretty much guaranteed spots (according to many) while no specific SEC teams currently are. I wonder how the committee sees the strength of each conference and ultimately if they put as many B1G teams in as SEC teams.

If I’m IU or Penn St. I would be not be absolutely sure 11-1 gets both teams in. If I’m them I would feel much better if BYU, ND, or both drop one more.

Interesting convo with qb coach

Have a friend who is a qb coach at a smaller college and has also been an oc for several years. . First statement he made was sark is an offensive savant and he has the highest level of respect for what he dials up.
The one thing he said he would like to see with Ewers is moving the pocket a little more and and more bootleg action. His thoughts were that Quinn's footwork is a little balky when he moves up in the pocket and thought he may be a guy who is just a little more comfortable moving left or right. Thought it was an interesting observation and would be interesting so see his stats when rolling out vs pocket.
