Men Should Take A Concerned Look At Their Beer Consumption,

Last month, The University of Texas and scientists released the results of a recent analysis that revealed the presence of female hormones in beer.
The theory is that beer contains female hormones (hops contain phytoestrogens) and that by drinking enough beer, men turn into women.
To test the theory 100 men each drank eight schooners of beer within a one hour period.
It was then observed that 100% of the test subjects - yes, 100% of all these men tended to:
  1. Argue over nothing.
  2. Refused to apologize when obviously wrong.
  3. Gained weight.
  4. Talked excessively without making sense.
  5. Became overly emotional
  6. He couldn’t drive.
  7. Failed to think rationally.
  8. Had to sit down while urinating.
It was decided that no further testing was needed,

OT: What should a new wood fence cost per linear foot?

Looking to get a new fence for my house. Nothing fancy, standard wood, 6 ft with metal poles every 6-8 feet, stain, four gates for. 1/4 acre rectangular lot. I received one bid to replace the front and back portions but not the sides(neighbors fences that are in great shape). Feels like the bud I recieved was for the entire fence.

I’m in Lake Highlands in Dallas.

OT: UIL Girls State Basketball Tournament tickets

The website shows only lower level seats, general admission, no Handicap accessible seating. and sold out for All Tournament Passes.
Non-stadium side (Coaches area) and both ends. No seats offered for stadium side yet.

Surely they are going to sell the tickets on the stadium side of the court, including wheelchair access?
Are they just not going to allow wheelchair purchase of All Tournament passes?

Can you buy an All Tournament pass now (they don't sell them at the Tournament), and convert it to wheelchair access at the event?

Note: NFHSS sells streaming of all games, cheaply...$10.95 ? You subscribe for one month, then cancel when done. They even remind you to cancel before you would be charged for a second month.

Girls Tournament starts Thursday, 2/29.

Texas BASEBALL: Opening Weekend Series Preview

One of the best weekends of the year is finally here. OPENING WEEKEND of college baseball!!

The 2024 edition of Texas Longhorn Baseball kicks off their season this weekend against San Diego Toreros. The Longhorns will be looking to get off to a fast start on the season in preparation of a tough slate of games to come in early March, which includes Big 12 conference play kicking off. Thankfully, the Horns do not open the season up against the SEC gauntlet of Arkansas, Missouri, and Vanderbilt. That said, the Horns first opponent, San Diego, is not one to overlook as they have had fairly recent success against the Horns. Coach David Pierce and staff will also be moving a lot of guys around early on to get a better understanding of what the best lineup and rotation will be.

This series should also be called the Matt Couch series hence forth. Strength and Conditioning Coach Matt Couch has been instrumental to a lot of the success the Longhorns have had over the past 5 years, oftentimes not getting the attention and recognition he deserves. Prior to coming to Texas, Coach Couch was the Strength and Conditioning coach at San Diego (his alma mater), where he helped oversee 41 players get selected in the Major League Draft, most notably All-Star Kris Bryant. Prior to his time as a coach at San Diego, Matt Couch played baseball for the Toreros and was a three-time All-West Coast Conference pitcher, with a career record of 23-11 over 65 appearances.

Overall, San Diego is looking to bounce back in 2024 after a fairly miserable 2023 season which saw them finish with a 24-25-1 record and go 17-10 in conference. Last season, San Diego had some solid hitters, but were really let down by their pitching staff who lacked an elite arm to rely upon and suffered from lack of depth as well. This past off season, San Diego hit the portal hard again to build up depth and bring in a group of arms to bolster their pitching staff. The biggest issue with this approach is that the arms they brought in have either had injury issues in the past or have limited effectiveness. The staff has been very pleased with the Fall workouts and early returns this Spring, leading them to believe that they can contend for a West Coast Conference title and chance to return to the NCAA Tournament. In order to obtain this goal, the pitching staff will have to step up and make major strides. The strength of the team is certainly the infield, which has significant amount of experience and proven productivity. Behind the plate, San Diego has one of the best defensive catchers on the West Coast. In the outfield, there is a lot of potential and projection, but they have the ability to be solid.

Some interesting demographics stats in the State of Texas and at UT/aTm

I followed the UT admissions thread the past few weeks, just did a little digging into these demographics and student populations as there were many complaints. This is not meant to be political(but it will, I just Corral'ed it)), just wanted to share what I found, as it was surprising. These may be off by a percent or 2, as I looked at several publications.

I am 100% for the best and brightest being accepted, I'm sure the Universities are doing their best, just found some of these numbers interesting about the current State of Texas

Tipping for Wedding Vendors

Prompted by the “Tipping Fatigue” thread, this one is more specific and asking for some thoughts before the fact. Our middle daughter is going to be our first child to get married.

As my wife peruses different wedding vendors, they often want significant tips for fees and prices they are already setting themselves: flowers, cake, photographers and videographers, caterers, decoration suppliers.

Who do we tip and who do we not?

Update on Texas and Lake Travis DL Gus Cordova

I was told by multiple sources that Texas is no longer recruiting Lake Travis defensive lineman Gus Cordova.

From what I was told, the staff was unaware of the allegations surrounding Cordova before offering him a scholarship.

However, since being made aware of the situation, Texas has backed off.

I asked if he would still visit Texas on April 20 and was told the spring game is open to the public.

For those who think Sarkisian and his staff are turning a blind eye to the accusations because Cordova has talent, that is simply not true.
