Best movie from a bad book

Other thread reminded me that I had the misfortune of reading The Prestige. Hopefully most of you have seen the movie that put Christopher Nolan on the map but I’d be surprised if any of you read one of the worst books written in modern day. The plot is like Girl on a Train f*cked Enemy Mine and allowed Harvey Weinstein to do the final edit.

Great flick though.

Dreaded Mark Levinson Chirping Noise

I’ve read enough online to make my head spin. It seems like a common enough problem that someone here has probably experienced it.

Anyway, the sound quality in my old LS 460 freaking rocks. Love it. But just today I got the chirping noise, which means I need the amp fixed. I don’t have the serial number on me. I’m taking the amp out tomorrow to get that. I guess my main question is about Pyramid Audio on Breaker. Has anyone used them? Are they legit?

Thanks.

"Last Man Standing "

On another thread Armadillo Slim (of all people) was making fun of my age.

God knows, I am thankful to still be here, that said, I often, too often, think of the lyrics.

"I don't wanna be the last man Standing.

But wait a minute, maybe I do."

The Austin Lunch Bunch began late 80s. At one point, there were around 20 of us.

There are now 4 of us left.
We lost another dear friend and charter member yesterday. Actually, we truly lost him to Alzheimer's over the last few years, but we loved him and refused to let him go.

Yesterday, God took that choice from us.

God speed my friend and Hook'em!

5 Thoughts on all of Sark's Promotions - Harris gets double promoted

Here are a few thoughts after Steve Sarkisian announced that Brandon Harris (GM), John Michael Jones (Director of Player Personnel), Taylor Searels (Director of Recruiting) and Kyndal Perry (Director of Recruiting Operations) were all given promotions on the eve of National Signing Day No.2.

1. When I mentioned after the news last week that Billy Glasscock was leaving the program to become the new GM at Ole Miss that Brandon Harris was viewed as the real superstar behind the scenes and the answer to whatever problem Glasscock's departure might cause, I didn't expect that it would quite end with him becoming the first general manager in the program, history.

Harris received a double-promotion. Expected to get the bump up from Director of Recruiting to Director of Player Personnel, he's suddenly as important behind the scenes as any person in the program outside of Sarkisian. It'll be interesting to hear Sarkisian talk about this tomorrow morning at his 11am press conference because there are votes of confidence and there are VOTES OF CONFIDENCE. Harris just for the latter.

2. It's fascinating that Sarkisian didn't want a single new or outside voice coming in to fill a single role in his support staff. He clearly likes his group and doesn't want to see anyone else leaving after the loss of Glasscock. Maybe this was needed in order to make sure that Glasscock didn't try to poach anyone for his own staff.

3. I've been advocating for a general manager hire to made for a few years and now Sarkisian has someone in that role. Would this have happened had Glasscock not left? Would Harris have leapfrogged Glasscock? My sense is that Harris was viewed as the most important piece of the puzzle for most of the last year and this move seems to suggest that feeling was spot on.

4. John Michael Jones must feel like he hit the lottery in going from assistant director of player personnel to the actual Director of Player Personnel. That's one hell of a come-up and vote of confidence. Out of nowhere he's now the lead of Player Personnel for one of the top programs in America after not having served that specific role anywhere else. After serving as the assistant director for 5 years and 7 months, he's now a major piece of the puzzle.

5. Searels is taking Harris' old job and Perry is taking Searels old job. It makes Searels one of the highest ranking women in the entire sport.

CFP Negotiations Confirm Kirk Schulz is Incompetent

"If we ever had any doubts that Kirk Schulz is an incompetent university President when it comes to the sports that are the front door to his institution after his actions/inactions which led to the implosion of the Pac-12, the CFP negotiations this week confirm his status as one of the personifications of rampant ineptitude of the NCAA."
