Perspective, gentlemen. It’s all about perspective

The very players we gnash teeth over wins, transfers, slights toward our program in not choosing Texas are kids. 18-22 (unless you’re Penix).

They’re somebody’s children. Sure, they have aspirations of being great. Championships and high draft status with millions are on the line. Their parents don’t care about any of that. Their parents likely just want them to be the best version of themselves that they’re capable of being. They probably stress over the expectations and pressure held over their sons. . Texas’ social media is here to help you remember that.

Offer List: Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas A&M

Evaluation: I'm a big, big fan of the 6-5, 230-pound Jackson, who has the size, athleticism and raw talent to be a super blue chip prospect on both sides of the ball - either as a tight end on offense or a defensive end on defense. Let's start with the latter, as his size profile screams future NFL prospect if he stays on that side of the ball. On top of having the frame you dream off building onto, this kid brings athleticism that allows him to make plays up and down the line of scrimmage, both as a run-stuffer and edge rusher. This kid could eventually become an All-America level strong-side defensive end in time. Meanwhile, the guy has the receiving tools and the natural instincts to play on the offensive side of the ball as a do-it-all tight end. From my set of eyes, we're talking about a player with a next-to-nothing basement if he can stay healthy and avoid all of the other things that can sidetrack a guy off the field.

Why it matters: The fact that he can play on either side of the ball at two positions that often struggle to find prospects with his physical profile makes him one of the most valuable players in his class. The fact that he comes rom East Texas and has a really shining reputation off the field just makes it better. Im 12 months from now, we're going to look back at this moment as one of the biggest commitments in the 2025 class.

Expectations: To be an NFL football player on either side of the ball in 2030 if he stays healthy.

2023 Highlights: Enjoy these Junior highlights.

Today's Gift (1-21)

A good friend will help you move, but a great friend will help you move a body.
~~~~~~~ Anonymous, and with good reason
Good morning. It's a little early but it's a travel day, so I need to get moving. This being Sunday, I could use a little sermonizing. In the 60+ days that I've been standing in for the late DippyDawg here at TG, one thing that has been a recurrent theme is the nature and quality of the friendships that have been forged. DD built a great little community---the congregation, as Mrs T-Sipper beautifully refers to us. That got me to thinking about what the Bible might have to say about friendship. Here's a sampling:
  • The book of John is filled with the joy of friendship. My favorite verse is 15:13, "Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." We could probably stop right there, and close the thread.
  • But Proverbs is also worth a look. Prov 18:24 tells us that "A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who will stick closer than a brother [or a sister, I might add]." That's the person we trust, and I mean REALLY trust. Those are the people who hurt when we hurt.
  • "A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity." Prov 17:17. These are the people we stand by, and who stand by us, even in times of trouble.
  • "As iron sharpens iron, so does one friend sharpen another." Prov 27:17. These are the people who bring out the best in us. It's a process that is at work here every day, as we learn from each other.
"Good friends help you find important things when you've lost them...your smile, your hope, and your courage." Those are the friends we all want. Those are the friends we have. Here. May God continue to add His blessing to TG and to all of us.
FAA Urges Airlines To Inspect Another Boeing 737 Model For Mid-Air Door Blowout Risks
Boeing shares fell in premarket trading in New York following the Federal Aviation Administration's announcement on Sunday recommending airlines to inspect another variant of the Boeing 737 for faulty mid-exit door plugs. This development occurred weeks after an incident where a door detached from an Alaska Airlines flight.
"As an added layer of safety, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is recommending that operators of Boeing 737-900ER aircraft visually inspect mid-exit door plugs to ensure the door is properly secured," the FAA wrote in a statement.
The 900ER is an older aircraft not part of the Max family. Data from the plane manufacturer shows 505 of these planes are used by US domestic airline carriers and others worldwide. Major operators of the plane include United Airlines Holdings, Alaska Airlines, and Delta Air Lines.
How did Boeing go from American Icon to this current disaster of a company?
True Detective S4 E2 (and S4 ties to S1)
Interesting episode… especially with the tattoo symbol and finding the RV at the end.
The tattoo matches the cult symbol from Rust Cohle’s notebook in Season 1.
This episode also seems to confirm Travis, the dead guy who danced on the ice in episode 1, is Rust Cohle’s father (McConaughey’s character in season 1).
Interested to see where this goes, I’m enjoying it thus far.
