Whenever Texas has a coaching spot open the joke is that all of the coaches get raises. Apparently now with NIL and the Portal random players are going to say Texas offered them big money to get more from their own school. I doubt we offered this guy anything yet alone $1.5 million.

We have a very old garage with asbestos shingle. Not a great situation as some tiles have broken and are missing in the back. Some of the wood on the inside back of the garage is wet or rotten and needs to be replaced.

Not sure where to go with this and I’m sure the solutions aren’t cheap. Also not sure if this is something for which we can engage insurance.

Anyone dealt with this before and have any suggestions?

Ed Werder has come out and said that Deion would accept the Cowboys job if it’s offered. If Jerry offers and if Deion does take it, I can see Colorado having a mass exodus via the portal. I need to look over their roster, but is there anyone on it UT could/would target? I know a Bama DT transferred there, I’d imagine Sark would be interested in going after him. This could be a domino to fall that could provide the portal with some quality talent. Then whoever Colorado hires their roster might hit the portal.

Historically, to keep NFL draft-able players from reentering college and playing football. NCAA restrictions are you do not have any eligibility left, be a professional, and hire an agent. I assume that he must be a registered student at the college to play.



Why can’t a very good NFL potential player return to college football by leaving college early (eligibility left), NIL $ (already makes him a professional and probably has an agent/advisor), and can still be a full time student by staying in school by enrolling remote classes in the fall (registered student that has not finished his degree)



This could occur when the player is not drafted, a later round than wanted, cannot come to terms with the team or is cut at training camp. Could make more $ with NIL than as an NFL drifter.



This would of course be challenged in court but the NCAA’s record of restricting athlete’s flexibility is not very good.

Urban Meyer calls out Texas for Arch Manning decision​

Throughout the season, Texas Longhorns have utilized young star quarterback Arch Manning in short-yardage situations, taking advantage of his running ability. But with the game on the line in the red zone of the College Football Playoff semifinal against Ohio State last week, they left him on the bench.

With Arch Manning on the bench, Texas failed to score a game-tying touchdown after starting 1st-and-goal from the one-yard line. Texas got stuffed on first down on a run inside the tackles, lost several yards on a toss play to the outside, failed to convert a pass on third down, and gave up a strip-sack on fourth down.
Three-time national champion Urban Meyer was not impressed with the strategy, especially against the defensive front that Ohio State was playing.
During the latest episode of “The Triple Option” podcast alongside Rob Stone and Mark Ingram, Urban Meyer called out Texas coach Steve Sarkisian for the decision not to put Arch Manning in the game to counter the look from the Buckeyes.
“You got this far to go,” Meyer said via Athlon. “It’s bear zero. How do you equate numbers? … There’s only two ways … You run the quarterback is number one. Single wing offense … So I almost thought I was going to see Arch Manning running in there like they did on the fourth down call earlier in the game. I thought where is he? Here he comes. He didn’t come. He didn’t come. So I knew it wasn’t a quarterback because (starting quarterback) Quinn Ewers isn’t a quarterback runner. And then the other way to do it is some type of option football and he’s not that.”

Meyer went as far as to say that there was “no other way” Texas was going to be able to run the ball against that front without utilizing the threat of the quarterback run.
“I got news,” Meyer added. “There’s no other way to run the football down there against bare zero. There’s two extra hats. So, one is the quarterback, direct snap. It’s called single-wing offense, which they did on fourth down. And they didn’t do that. And then the lateral play, which I know coach Sark and so much respect, he’s good. I mean, that’s going to haunt him for a while ’cause you have four shots.”
Obviously, Texas did not convert. Instead, Ohio State defensive end Jack Sawyer forced a fumble and returned it for a touchdown the other direction, ending the game.

So....can someone just please plot-check what I think happened? I never read the books, and I have no real knowledge of this universe. But essentially - the Paul guy has visions that he is going to unleash a crazy disaster if he goes south. When the north is attacked and destroyed he realizes that he has no choice but to go south and get an army together to defeat the bald baddies. He goes down there and decides to drink the death noodle juice and then he comes to some realization that he must just go ahead and unleash the holy war because it's inevitable, or the only way to save the folks he loves, or the only way to get them off the planet for good???

Just not sure what changed in his motivation that he decides unleashing that tragedy is worth it.

Then....why wouldn't the other houses accept the transition of power? The emperor was cool with it, he was going to marry the daughter - seems like they had a clear succession plan in place but the other houses were just 'nope.'

Then...why is Zendaya so pissed? The dude spent the entire movie saying he shouldn't go south because bad things would happen....then she wants him to go down there and bad things happen.

Haven't rented apartment since early 90's but we have kid who just moved out of place here in Austin.

1. They let him stay one more week (from end of lease) and charged him for full month, they charged for full month and took two weeks for idiots to finally credit it back.

2. We made him clean apt for two full days and turned in keys and asked one of people in leasing office if needed walk thru or anything and she told him just hand in keys and we're fine.

3. They kept deposit and sent us a 1,200$ bill for full carpet repair as they claimed there was spot on carpet. We asked to go thru it with him and he said since already rented out to next tenant they had to do it quickly and he didn't hear from staff member we requested walk thru. They have one sketchy pic of some slight discolored spot and they replaced entire apt carpet.

4. Manager is never there and takes weeks to get back to us and claims he was going to talk to repair company and "try to help us out" and "get it reduced" and 2 weeks go by and he just re sends us bill after we call twice and show up there twice and he refuses to talk to us.

Just wondering if any recourse or should just pay it and let it go since not huge amount? Seems like they just charge you and then send to collections after 30 days . Looking at yelp-reddit-Better Business bureau seems like this place does this to lots people.

Making Changes

I recently saw this on OB’s aggy thread in a discussion of the officials in the ASU game.

What if that were changed to read:

“Don’t let excuses get in the way of becoming a better person.”

How many times do we say we want to loose weight, but when we look in the pantry and only see a very small number of healthy foods, we use that as an excuse to wait till tomorrow?

How many times have we said that we want to start going to the gym to get stronger, but use the cost of membership as an excuse to wait until prices are reduced?

How many times have we said that we want to spend more time with the family, but when 5:00 rolls around we stay at the office to finish whatever we’re working on, and before we know it, it’s past time for supper and the kids are in bed?

There’s always an excuse to not do something. Instead let’s prioritize finding reasons to do things that will make us a better person. Let’s make today the day that we begin the journey towards becoming the person we want to be.

This is an aggressive defense. Go back and watch the play. They were sold out to stop any run to the left. If Quinn keeps gunner is open back to the right tie ball game.

To call a good game and then choose to become stupid on the 1 yard line is just uncalled for.

Not to mention, Texas is soft. Will come back because the more this game gets talked about this week. Everyone will say with a great offensive line. You pound the ball 3 or four times in a row and if you can’t… You’re soft.

We didn’t learn anything from last year being inside the 10 yard line and we allowed history to repeat itself.
