Texas Voting Results

Trump won Texas 56.3-42.4 by a margin of 1.569 million votes.
Ted Cruz won Texas 53.10-44.5 by a margin of 971,000 votes.

Cruz won by ~220,000 votes in 2018 and Trump won by ~600,000 votes in 2020.

Trump got nearly 1 million more votes in Texas than he did 4 years ago. That is a breathtaking number and bodes well for the Statewide elections coming up in 2026. Texas is redder than it was just before COVID. It seems clear that the California transplants are mostly political refugees and not a bunch of liberals moving to Texas. We are getting a disproportionate share of their conservatives.

Friday night hoops: Another chance to watch Tre Johnson in a UT uniform

The Headliner: Freshman guard Tre Johnson came out blazing on Monday night by setting a new Texas record for points (29) in a debut performance, shattering the old mark (20) established by Kevin Durant nearly two decades ago. It's hard to tell how good this team might be, but Johnson is movie-star A-lister stuff on the hardwood and is worth the 2 hours of your time.

Did You Know: Texas has won 22 straight home openers. The last loss? November 17th, 2001. It was T.J. Ford's first game in a Texas uniform and the No.23 Longhorns lost to unranked Arizona 88-74. The Longhorns hit only 10 of 21 free throws that night. Brandon Mouton, Royal Ivey and Sydmill Harris each had 15 points.

About Houston Christian: HCU started its season earlier this week with an 86-59 win over something called Avila University. Four players scored in double-digits, led by 6-2 guard Bryson Dawkins' 18 points on 6 of 10 shooting in only 17 minutes. There's not a lot from the opening box score that stands out other than the team's shooting splits - 44.3/25.7/62.5. Folks, opponent No.2 is not like opponent No.1.

Hypothetical Injury Return

So, if your prized QB had this injury how would you handle it. Rush them back to play a big game, or play it safe to prevent long term damage?

A grade 2 hamstring strain typically takes four to eight weeks to heal. However, recovery time can vary depending on the severity of the injury and other factors. (Assuming it was really a grade 2)

Here are some tips for helping a hamstring strain heal:
Rest: Avoid physical activity that causes pain and keep your leg still as much as possible.
Ice: Apply ice to the hamstring for about 20 minutes, 2 to 3 times a day.
Pain medication: Take pain medication like ibuprofen, naproxen, or acetaminophen.
Physical therapy: A doctor may recommend physical therapy to strengthen the hamstring.

Returning to sports before the injury is fully healed can lead to more serious injuries.

Hamstring strains are graded based on the severity of the injury:

    • Grade 1: A minor injury that heals in a few days.
    • Grade 2: A partial tear that involves more than half of the muscle fibers, but some are still intact.
    • Grade 3: A full thickness tear in the muscle.

Question on Racist, Bigot Accusations

I know that I will get entirely sincere, snarkless replies, but this really is a serious question. Leaving aside all the other issues regarding Trump, I see more lashing out about his racist, bigoted views than anything else. Where does that come from? Is it just his border policy that leads some to conclude that? Or is it that anyone whose politics are not highly progressive is considered a racist? Or are there concrete examples of this in his behavior or other policies?

VY in today's NFL......

Was Vince a victim of being with a coach who didn't know how to properly use him? Watched Lamar Jackson tonight and couldn't help but imagine VY flourishing in today's NFL. To play devil's advocate, Vick flourished in the NFL and was a predecessor to VY. Thoughts from the board?

Why didn't VY have success in the NFL? He won offensive ROY and made the pro bowl twice.

Basketball Ticket Strategy

Hey all... I wanted to share my basketball ticket buying strategy. I do not go often, maybe once a year. Sometimes once every two/three years, depending on my schedule. However, I am currently on a 7-0 stretch and have seen some really big Ws at home vs. some highly ranked opponents (KU, NC, etc...).

So, early in the year I look at the Texas' schedule and find a few fun home Saturday match-ups. Then, I review the schedule for each of the opponents... and I can usually find at least one where the opponent played a big game on a Wednesday night and Texas's last game was Monday night, meaning Texas has fresher legs on their home court. Like I said, I can usually find at least one. My wife, a complete non sports fan, loves going to Texas BBall with me because she's seen some really fun home wins, where the crowd was packed and jazzed. Anyway, thought I would share. Hook'em tonight and tomorrow morning!

Anti-Semitic riots overnight in Amsterdam

WTH?

“The thugs who committed this crime against the jewish people in #AmsterdamAttack are not “pogroms” and are not European!

They are the “Free Palestine” supporters from the radical Arabs and Muslims who immigrated to Europe loaded with extremism and hate to the West.

Ironically, they are the same people who have been leading protests asking the jewish people to leave their home in Israel and go back to Europe!

These criminals must be appropriately punished! Otherwise, Europe will turn into a big bloody mess.”
