24/7 sports bowl game for Texas

Well covid is getting out of hand in California and now they changed a playoff semi final to Arlington from the Rose Bowl
Changing the location from Pasadena to AT&T has nothing to do with the Vid. Since no west coast teams are in the playoffs, the committee wanted a more central location to allow family members to attend.
The Vid has been “surging” and “raging” in CA for about 9 months now if you listen to the local media. I see no tangible evidence that anything has been raging for 9 months. If it were, there’d be no one left.

College Football Playoff relocates Rose Bowl semifinal to Dallas amid COVID-19 concerns, attendance policy

With local and regional health statutes preventing fans from being in attendance, the College Football Playoff semifinal at the Rose Bowl has been moved to AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The move, announced Saturday evening by the Pasadena Tournament of Roses, is a result of a "growing number of COVID-19 cases in Southern California along with the inability to host player and coach guests at any game in California."

Though game officials lobbied for family and friends to attend the Rose Bowl, their efforts were not fruitful as local and regional health officials in California try to curb the spread of COVID-19. Specifically, two appeals to state health officials for family and friends to attend were denied, according to the Los Angeles Times.

I just post what I read, could it be a cover up for the west coast teams maybe?

I live in CA so I’m seeing all of the political maneuvering (because that’s all it is) first hand. Moving the game allows for limited attendance.

For opticals, how about the staged shot of the playoff committee ‘socially distanced’ in that conference room LOL. Hang on to you ass the libs are going for a power grab far beyond lockdowns and social distancing and using the covid hoax as a means.

Watching the common folk libs starting to rebel against Cuomo, Newsome and De Blasio is almost funny to watch. Libs were all for the shutdowns if it meant getting Trump out of office but now that they’re losing their jobs and businesses they aren’t laughing. Enjoy what you’ve created libtards.

Not trying to be a D,,, but bringing more people to Texas? Not sure if I want to see Dallas become a "epicenter" of the virus. js

You heard correctly. Although I haven't seen a formal announcement it seems to be a certainty that TX will be in the Alamo Bowl on 12/29/20 against CO. I read that it appears to be the 10th straight year that TX will be in the Alamo Bowl but it's really only the 2nd.

Could there be any bowl or matchup less exciting? Zero upside to that game. If we beat CO, we’re supposed to beat CO. If we lose ...
I really thought we were going to play in the BLM/ACME Brick Bowl against UC Berkeley.

And the CB announced its OK/FL on 12/29/20. And it's ISU/OR in the FB on 1/2/21.

If you're ISU you have to realize that Bowl opportunities like the FB are rare. In their case they have to win. They pride themselves on having a 5* culture but winning the FB and you have a chance to recruit 5* players. OR like OK has more talent than ISU but they're not as good a team as OK. I'm sure MC will have his guys raring to go but if Brock Purdy plays like he did yesterday forget about it.

Well it's still my team and I'll be watching. Besides us the only bowl games that interest me is OK, ISU, and NC.

the vid can "rage" all it wants when the mortality rate is below 2% so you still have plenty of humans on the planet. the problem with your logic is that you imply sickness=death when that's not the point. it's the hospitals with no beds that is not made up. just sayin

I understand your point. In fact, I agree with the need to mitigate the strain on the hospital systems. In my neck of the woods, I don't believe one single word from the state run media regarding the Rona. Why? In April, the Navy hospital ship Mercy with 1,000 beds was brought in to help out because the public was told that the system was overflowing and we needed to "flatten the curve." The Mercy was in port a few weeks and saw about 75 patients before returning to its home port. I haven't heard one word lately about bringing the Mercy back to help out with the current "raging" situation. I can only guess that the health system has some capacity. The situation is likely different in other areas of the country so I can only comment on what I'm observing in my area.

Well here's the first thing I've learned about CO. They've got a good offense. Sam Noyer is a good qb. They've got an outstanding rb in Jarek Broussard. La'Vontae Shenault is a good receiver. It doesn't look like they have a very good defense. So it looks like it will be a high scoring game.

They went 4/1. Their first year coach bailed on them after NSD so they have a new coach who still hasn't had a chance to recruit his first class.

CO fb has potential. They have some tradition mostly from the 90's. They have a great mascot and they say Boulder, CO is a beautiful college town. So I'm going to try make the most out of this game.

We can only hope that this turns out to be a good game.

Why? A bowl game is an invitation not a requirement, and honestly the risk/reward factor makes them rather pointless this year
How about the fans who spend their hard earned money during the year supporting their team? It should be mandatory but I guess you're right, the covid hoax has probably changed the sporting landscape as we knew for years to come. Apparently not even playing a certain number of games is a requirement anymore, look at Ohio State. Thanks alot Covid hoax

that is not true. contractually (with the conferences), teams are required to play in bowl games

What does spending your money during the season have to do with a bowl game? I gotta be honest if Covid helps change the bowl system and gives us an expanded playoff/a tournament it will be a change for the better honestly

So you'd be ok with Texas opting out? Really? I'd be willing to bet You're in the minority. I'm all for expanding the playoffs but I'm not all for players opting out and now whole teams opting out.

Yeah I’d be ok with it. I mean I watch the bowl games. Even attended the Alamo bowl once. But let’s be honest bowl games stopped being meaningful when there became 40 of them and all you had to do was be .500. If anyone thought going to the Alamo bowl was good enough we wouldn’t of been tracking planes to Urban Meyer’s house and Tom Herman wouldn’t of been calling South Carolina. Everyone knows these bowl games have become a little bit of a joke. No one wants to admit it.

I had heard that a few teams...ND and Clemson I think had indicated they would not play in the Rose Bowl because no family would be allowed due to California idiot rules. Thats why the game was moved.

Honestly, this year, I have already opted out of watching Texas and if they shut things down for the rest of the year, I'd not care one bit.

If we had a coach that mattered those 2weeks extra practice would be important for next year

I know coaches have peddled this for years. I think the effect is fairly minimal most teams are making changes to their coaching staff small or wholesale changes
