Regular PC will start at noon. A few notes from the teleconference ...
On the hard count on ISU’s field goal … Very frustrating. Can’t say what the play meant because they don’t play what-if. Know if he made it, they would have had time on offense, but no idea on what the impact was on the outcome.
On the playcalling on Texas’ lost offensive drive when trying to run out the clock … At that point, it would be reckless to start throwing the ball down the field and not use time. They went to 12 personnel since they weren’t running the ball in 11 or 10 personnel. Thought they could run it well in 12 personnel. Didn’t block well … hindsight is always 20/20. Had they thrown three straight incomplete passes and not forced ISU to use time outs, he’d be answering a lot of questions in that scenario. You have to run the ball to end the game and they didn’t do it. They’ve done it in the past, including K-State this year and last, they didn’t do it on Saturday.
On fourth down calls … They game plan for fourth down, so each week there’s going to be different fourth and short, fourth and mediums on their call sheet.
On why some fourth down plays haven’t worked as planned this year … They’re all different. A few that have been not very smart calls based on the defense they’ve seen. Some have been miscommunications up front. Had one in the end zone against LSU they had a dropped pass on. No one particular reason for the ones that have not been successful.
