Im pretty sure we thought we were going to get him, honestly had the 5 star debacle happened before he committed it may have helped us to land him. It will be interesting to see how he and Beuchelle's college career go. I really like Beuchelle.

Correct. There was no chance he was coming in with Murray and Allen on board. Sumlin really didn't make a hard run at him until December after the debacle. By then it was way too late although Sumlin and Hurts dad are friends and there was some consideration even though he was 6 mos into his commitment to Bama. This was also before Knight transferred so there was a legit offer of immediate playing time. I'm sure they considered Sumlin's job security after the disastrous falling out over the double transfer. Cant blame him for sticking with his commitment. He made a smart decision and is doing well.
Never did I say anything about a job being given, I said the reason he wasn't recruited was because Shane was already committed and Seth was already in the fold, I don't see any QB coming to Austin last year with those two things stacked in front.

When one of the largest schools in the state decides to leave a conference and go to another conference from another REGION, it allows that conference (and your foes foes) to more effectively recruit the state that said "defector" came from.
Aggy should get Xmas cards v every year from the other teams in the sec for being so stupid as to allow them to come here and have unfettered access to our talent.

He had no interest in Texas and Shane Buschele did.
Texas wanted him but there was interest on his part. Shane went to Elite 10 and blew everyone away, after that, no one gave Hurts a second thought. We got the perfect QB for us. He looks great also, but I love Shane's professionalism and leadership.
Hard to say how much success he will have because of our coaching situation but he is a damn good QB and if he were at Bama they would be damn near unstoppable. Oh wait, they are.
If aggy sucked in the big 12 what do they care if they suck in the SEC as well? How did they get played? At worst there is no change to their position while simultaneously hurting a rival, at best they improved their position while simultaneously hurting their rival.
Their argument is that the move gives SEC better access to Texas recruits which if you believe does in fact hurt us.
bubba...I am not here to crack heads with you. I like your posts, but we are working at cross purposes. Yeah, I know that aTm opened Texas to secsecsec recruiting. My point is simply this. If Texas quits fooling around and again becomes Texas, I dont care what bama,LSU and ole Miss do....it just wont matter. We will get who we want.
