March 24, 2017 - American Voters Want To Save Big Bird, Quinnipiac University National Poll Finds; Most Oppose Spending Cuts In Trump Budget

American voters oppose the spending cuts listed in President Donald Trump's proposed federal budget, including 70 - 25 percent against eliminating the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll released today.
Voters support 85 - 13 percent increasing funding for health services provided by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and say 58 - 39 percent that increased military spending is a "good idea," the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University Poll finds.
By wide margins, however, American voters say other proposed cuts are a "bad idea:"
Voters also say 55 - 39 percent that significantly increasing funding for charter school and private school choice programs is a "bad idea."
"It's a rousing yes for healing the vets and growing the military. But when it comes to cutting Public TV, the arts, after school programs and scientific research to improve the environment, it's a stern 'hands off' from voters," said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.
"And that wall? Forget it," Malloy added.
President Trump should not lower taxes on the wealthy, American voters say 74 - 22 percent, including 50 - 43 percent among Republicans.
A total of 73 percent of voters are "very concerned" or "somewhat concerned" about climate change and 59 percent say the U.S. should do more to address climate change.

American voters oppose 55 - 43 percent Trump's revised executive order that temporarily bans people from certain countries from entering the U.S.
Voters also oppose 61 - 35 percent Trump's ban on all refugees entering the U.S. Men and women, white and non-white voters oppose this ban.
Voters support 58 - 40 percent court decisions blocking the immigration ban. That Russian Thing
Voters disapprove 59 - 27 percent of the way Trump is handling U.S. policy toward Russia. Republicans approve 61 - 20 percent, the only listed group to back the president.
A total of 63 percent of American voters are "very concerned" or "somewhat concerned" about Trump's relationship with Russia.
A total of 65 percent of voters say alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election is a "very important" or "somewhat important" issue.
An independent commission should investigate links between some of Trump's campaign advisors and the Russian government, voters say 66 - 29 percent.
From March 16 - 21, Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,056 voters nationwide with a margin of error of +/- 3 percentage points. Live interviewers call landlines and cell phones.

March 24, 2017 - American Voters Want To Save Big Bird, Quinnipiac University National Poll Finds; Most Oppose Spending Cuts In Trump Budget

American voters oppose the spending cuts listed in President Donald Trump's proposed federal budget, including 70 - 25 percent against eliminating the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll released today.
Voters support 85 - 13 percent increasing funding for health services provided by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and say 58 - 39 percent that increased military spending is a "good idea," the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University Poll finds.
By wide margins, however, American voters say other proposed cuts are a "bad idea:"
- 87 - 9 percent against cutting funding for medical research;
- 84 - 13 percent against cutting funding for new road and transit projects;
- 67 - 31 percent against cuts to scientific research on the environment and climate change;
- 83 - 14 percent against cutting funding for after school and summer school programs;
- 66 - 27 percent against eliminating the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities;
- 79 - 17 percent against eliminating the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.
Voters also say 55 - 39 percent that significantly increasing funding for charter school and private school choice programs is a "bad idea."
"It's a rousing yes for healing the vets and growing the military. But when it comes to cutting Public TV, the arts, after school programs and scientific research to improve the environment, it's a stern 'hands off' from voters," said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.
"And that wall? Forget it," Malloy added.
President Trump should not lower taxes on the wealthy, American voters say 74 - 22 percent, including 50 - 43 percent among Republicans.
A total of 73 percent of voters are "very concerned" or "somewhat concerned" about climate change and 59 percent say the U.S. should do more to address climate change.

American voters oppose 55 - 43 percent Trump's revised executive order that temporarily bans people from certain countries from entering the U.S.
Voters also oppose 61 - 35 percent Trump's ban on all refugees entering the U.S. Men and women, white and non-white voters oppose this ban.
Voters support 58 - 40 percent court decisions blocking the immigration ban. That Russian Thing
Voters disapprove 59 - 27 percent of the way Trump is handling U.S. policy toward Russia. Republicans approve 61 - 20 percent, the only listed group to back the president.
A total of 63 percent of American voters are "very concerned" or "somewhat concerned" about Trump's relationship with Russia.
A total of 65 percent of voters say alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election is a "very important" or "somewhat important" issue.
An independent commission should investigate links between some of Trump's campaign advisors and the Russian government, voters say 66 - 29 percent.
From March 16 - 21, Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,056 voters nationwide with a margin of error of +/- 3 percentage points. Live interviewers call landlines and cell phones.
