Baylor announces release of five players from NLIs

Scholz, isn't the issue the 25-man class limit more than the 85-scholarship limit? Even with the 4 EEs, if Fowler and Southall qualify, I don't see room for all 5.
I don't think Fowler is getting in. Southall is supposed to enroll for Summer II.

Yes, that's my understanding. You can't fudge the 25 number. You can make room with the 85. I guess someone could be asked to grey shirt with the next class if they really wanted in. Don't see that as probable with these talented guys though. If Fowler and Southall both make it in, we can't take all 5.

I have read that he was cleared, so surprised to see that he may not get in now. Would be really disappointing if he does not qualify.
He hasn't been cleared for enrollment, they said he got the test score he needed. I haven't heard anything about clearinghouse.

Strong did say he expects him to make it in. I'm simply not counting my chickens before they hatch.

Turner is going to fill Hudson' head with NFL 1st rounders under his watch. The Aggies have a good shot at landing Hudson.

Now reading we're currently at 84 with the addition of Dev.Duvernay (that count includes Southall, Fowler and two walk-ons who received scholarships last year Ashby and Templin).

I'm unsure if the walk-ons will have those scholarships renewed for this year and it sounds like at least one guy will get a medical scholarship due to consecutive knee injuries.

24/7 said earlier in the week they expect at least two more guys to transfer before fall camp which isn't a stretch at all considering there are still a few Mack guys who don't get playing time.

I got on a high horse about BU not caring about these athletes, that these kids entire life is football and that they may not want their name and reputations attached to BU. Then I started reading and realized that most (all?) of them were just mad Briles got canned and I stopped caring about them.

By that logic, most players (or students for that matter) would have to leave whichever school they attend, since most schools have skeletons in the closet.

Jeff Howe on 24/7 says it is complicated. The players can go anywhere, but because the dead period starts Monday and lasts until 14 July any visits would have to be before Monday. However, the releases wont come in until Monday and until they getthe releases in hand...no coaches can contact them(well excepting Saban of course) Enrollment deadline is July 11.....almost sounds like a final FU from baylor.....The players can contact the coaches anytime....but it leaves all LEGAL program coaches tied up. If the kids are not enrolled in the last summer semnester, they cant do any drills or weight room workouts....

Damned chinese curse....." may you live in interesting times..."

No clue, but Texaggy thinks so.

I don't think it's even certain he's visiting yet, apparently his mom wants him to take the visit and it's all set up from our side but he has yet to confirm he's making the trip. Reports of where he's leaning have seemed to be all over the place but my understanding was that if released he was going to Texas. If he makes the trip al bets are off if he doesn't then I think that means he was set on Texas all along.

If I had a choice of Fowler qualifying vs getting even 5 of the 5- I would want Fowler.

It's pretty funny and I don't care either way, our class is stacked...
