Espn is basically waving at baylor from the shore as the titanic sets sale. Darth Briles may not be long for this world at Rape U.

The only way Baylor would get rid of Briles is if he's one of the attackers. Guy Morris wouldn't of survived, but in the age where Baylor is a big boy program they aren't going to crawl back under that rock voluntarily.

The institutional indifference and lack of help at the university level is where I think the blame really lies. Looking at you, Ken Starr. Title IX suits on the way, hypocritical d-bag.

I seriously doubt Baylor cans Briles. Before him they were largely irrelevant, and now they are raking in money. Unless the NCAA brings the hammer no way they fire Briles. Money trumps rape. Sad but true.

Eh, ESPN airs stuff like this weekly. And when you see the story from their perspective with certain facts out front.....you scratch your head and think that school is in trouble.

And then nothing EVER happens to the schools. Because the NCAA power is a joke. And because tomorrow there will be a new school story to focus on.

Nowadays you have to go all Penn State raping little boys to stay in the news.

The problem is the NCAA was never designed to handle criminal type things. Their whole purpose was/is to over see the events and make sure schools were obeying the rules within the sport. The reason the NCAA doesn't step in here is because there doesn't appear to be a legal mechanism for them to do so. I mean even with the penn state deal there was some question weather the NCAA had the authority to hand down the sanctions they did. Which is probably part of the reason they were scaled back. This isn't really about the NCAA. More about the institution and the lengths they will go to protect the cash cow.

Right hand to god, if I had a sister or a daughter and she was raped.............just reserve me a room in Huntsville.

On second thought, I'd probably kidnap the dude first and drive him across state lines before I cut his head off and then fornicated with his skull on the steps of the police station in Little Rock. Declare me insane and send me to a Federal Mental facility. I'd bake you guys cupcakes when you came to visit.

I hate to say it but I would forget my upbringing and do painful things to a man that raped one of my loved ones....and God help him if it is my daughter especially....I will take my chances with the jury.

I concur that this is pretty much the truth. It's really sad too. Baylor has tasted a bit of football glory, and now they are literally trading their morals for wins on the football field. Firing Briles means they risk returning to what they were prior to Briles arriving, and I don't think the powers at Baylor can handle that reality.

Surely you're not this ignorant of history or completely lacking in self awareness. A $ooner talking about morals is like Jenna Jamison talking about chastity. Christ on a cracker that's hilarious.

Has Joe Mixon broken a girl's face lately? Frank Shannon attempted to rape anyone else? DGB pushed a girl down some stairs again? Justin Chaisson attempted to kill another girl?

If Briles wasn't at Baylor, we probably wouldn't even know about all the rapes. Because no one would care (about baylor, not the multiple rapes). He is an excellent coach, not so great a human being. Unless he is the the actual rapist, he is fine. Most folks would prefer winning with thugs than not winning with good kids. I can not believe I hate Baylor more than Texas or LSU. How is that possible?
Baylor won't change because hatred is better than being irrelevant. Unless it is your daughter.

Maybe folks you know. Not my experience.
See if they dump him. I bet they don't.
Rape is over the top, but most fan bases care more about winning than weed, shoplifting or a dui. To me rape is way beyond simple thuggery.

I'm not saying Baylor is going to do the stand up thing here. I tend to believe most people are decent human beings though.

A agree when you're talking about rape. But we all make excuses for less serious offenses, when it is our guy (if he can play). We are all ready to teach lessons if the kid can't play.

So?? I mean I could also bring up UTs history as well, but this thread is about Baylor. Hence, my post was about the relevant topic at hand. Thanks though.

No.. he just helped cover them up for around 2 years.......
Did I miss something? He covered up a rape? Get him out of there! I was under the impression that the Oakman incident happened last weekend. And I was under the impression that Peterson never told Briles or his Boise bosses about a prior Ukwuachu assault. And I was under the further impression that Baylor was spending a million dollars on an investigation by a law firm that took down Joe Pa to find out if Briles or anyone else was covering up a rape. But since I was just informed on this board that he in fact did cover "them" up for "around 2 years" - get him out of there!

Did I miss something? Did Briles rape someone? Get rid of him!
I don't know if he covered up anything or not, but he has 100% been bringing in thugs. It was widely discussed before all the rapes. When you recruit thugs, bad things happen off the field. Just have to decide how important winning is. Every program has different thresholds.

Did I miss something? Where was this widely discussed? Link?

In all seriousness - there is something in the water in Waco that needs to be cleaned up. Briles has done enough for our university that he deserves to be heard. I, for one, have a hard time believing that he actually covered up a rape. But I think you will find that most BU fans are anxiously awaiting the results of the investigation. If he in fact covered up a rape, he will be gone in 2 minutes.

I think it's more along the lines of--- he wasn't proactive. He had a "see no evil, hear no evil" roll in it.

Look, if your a CEO of a company and some of your employees are siphoning off money into a slush fund and you don't discover it, but the sister in law of one of your board members does-- you're still accountable. The buck stops with the CEO. He has been in trusted with safeguarding this place and if Baylor actively or passively did not do that, part of that is on Briles. While there will be plenty of blame thrown around, it's impossible to think Briles shouldn't be held accountable to some degree.

I think there is zero chance he covered up for Oakman. Why would he, he is out of eligibility. No clue on the others.
My issue is bringing predators on campus. The last 2 rapists were not kicked out of other schools for being choir boys.
Were you suprised to hear Oakman was the suspect? I wasn't, he is actually who I guessed it was. If a person commits rape and it isn't a surprise - why the hell is he on a college campus.
My problem with Briles is not the cover up, if it even happened. It is bringing wild dogs on campus and acting surprised they bite someone.

Part of the story today that was new to me, was how BU had a rape charge in 2013 involving their TE and a walk on hack. They decided not to review the paperwork and investigate the charge until 2015.

Thats burying the papertrail Big Red Motors style.

So 5 rapists under Briles so far? Am I missing one? I wonder what the magic number is to make this a big deal? Maybe 10 rapists would do the trick.

Sorry, I can't help you out. I have no idea what the real # is. I don't think anyone does. Including the people at BU that read/buried documents.

Rapists are worse than wild dogs. Calling them people is a stretch in my opinion.

I am pretty much all FOR rapists (especially your felonious breaking and entering, etc rapist) having their junk cut off and having to use cath bags to pee the rest of their lives.

Any sexual assault committed by a Baylor student surprises me.

What exactly about Oakman led you to believe, or at least not be surprised, that he would be arrested for sexual assault? Because he is big?

Better be careful describing people like that.

What? I'm asking MM why he described Baylor football players as "wild dogs" and wondering what was the exact characteristic of Oakman that led him to not be "surprised" that he is charged with sexual assault. He's the one using loaded terms and phrases.
