Bayor runs away with bowl win...

Oh yeah... Baylor was also without their starting right tackle, a 5th year senior who suffered from a torn labrum.

Sooooo then what's our excuse for rolling a donut against Iowa st?

So, the Bears crushed the all-time rushing record for any bowl game, in an 11 point win against the #10 team in the country (who held 8 opponents to 21 points or less this season), while still without their QBs...

Does that mean they can now STFU about losing to Texas, because of their QB woes?

They can narrate the UT loss however they want. Given their 3rd string QB who just got the job got hurt. And their 4th string QB stepped in and couldn't complete a pass. The shift to wildcat and doing well with it in the UT game and vs UNC after a month practicing it.....is something they can be proud of.

And yet, they can still point out the truth of the UT game. I hate excuses or blaming others for losses. Don't blame a ref unless its a last second TD he takes off the board. And don't blame injuries, unless they are egregious....which in the case of BU at the end of this year....its true. I mean when you lose starting QBs like week after week after week and the last one goes down in a game.....and you have a converted WR step in for emergency purposes......and you still come back and almost win the game running a gimmick wildcat offense.....you have a legit explanation for that loss. I wouldn't even blame them for pointing it out.

... and almost win the game...
The Longhorn W when time is 00:00 is the bottom line with Baylor.

Look forward to seeing coach Strong close with a top 20 class; seeing the coaching staff rounded out; and seeing what we put on the field next fall.

Hook 'em

We still won.

I'm just disagreeing with those that say it was a brilliant defensive strategy. It wasn't.

And its clear now that they are only saying it because they can't say anything bad about the HC. Thats fine. I am not a Strong hater. I agree I look forward to him turning it around. And I am pointing out that this game, like a few others, made me question something on the field that I hadn't previously questioned with Strong. And this one was so simple, even the most basic/football uneducated girl who was watching the BU game with us was wondering why we weren't lining up to stop the run. And BU fans were saying "thank God you keep lining up in a prevent type D and letting us score at will, as soon as you adjust we will be done". Except we never did.

Acting like UNC not stopping it a month later means we couldn't is false and irrelevant. It just means they had a bad game plan too. And BU out executed them.

The huge statistical step back on Defense was surprising this year. Above X and O decisions had a lot to do with it. Along with players not executing. Certain coaches struggled to coach before, during, and after games. That can not continue.

That win last night was fantastic, and, trust me, after last year's melt down against Michigan St., this offseason will be a little more palatable. That said .... I'm looking at this season as a "what if"? Sure, every team has injuries, but, what if Russell had never gotten hurt? Could this have been the season for BU? We all knew the BU offensive line was nasty, but the last two games (especially last night) showed just how good they are. Here's how far Briles has brought the Bears - there is disappointment after a 10-3 season and bowl win. Time to re-load!

I never said it was a brilliant defensive strategy....I said for the parameters of what was going on, it worked....

kind of funny....I usually agree with your takes of almost everything...on this we do not see eye to eye. I can live with that

Chizik completely embarrassed himself last night. That was a disgraceful effort from the UNC defense. Giving up 650 rushing yards when there is no threat of forward pass is baffling. UNC safeties were still setting up deep as if Baylor was going to pass. Baylor subbed personnel all night, including OL, and Chizik rarely made any substitutions. Just a horrible coaching job, poor tackling and other fundamental mistakes. Baylor never punted in the game.

It does appear that Baylor used all 13 practices to perfect the wildcat. I've never seen it run that efficiently.

Complete shitting of the bed. There is no excuse. The 'Clones beat us fair and square.

Just like there is apparently no excuse, from some of our local Baylor fans about their QB situation, in regards to their loss to us. We beat them fair and square as well.

It's CFB... Any team can win on any given Saturday (or whatever day). Making excuses is for losers.
