We’re just under two months from tipping off the 2024-2025 college
basketball season, as well as the most wonderful time of the year in
general. Fall is good feelings, great weather, blankets, football,
basketball, so on and so forth. When I was a player, practice would
begin in the later parts of September, early parts of October and
there was no greater feeling in the world to get back on that
hardwood.

All this to say, we’re finally back gentleman. Fall is upon us.

P.S. Texas is really … REALLY good on the football field.

A few weeks ago, I’d posted a little snippet along with the 2024-2025
conference schedule and received some mixed feedback, understandably.

I have EXTREMELY high expectations for this team.

Someone even went as far as accusing me of looking at things through
orange tinted glasses. I hope that from my short tenure here at
Orangebloods that I have shown to be as unbiased as possible. I was
extremely critical of the coaching staff’s in-game adjustments,
overall game planning, use of personnel, etc. for last year’s team.
That wasn’t because I’m trying to put anybody down or be OVERLY
critical, I just call it how I see it. So I’m calling this how I see
it.

I think that this year, the Longhorns have one of the better put together
rosters in college basketball.

“Take off the orange colored glasses and give us objective analysis. KD as afreshman couldn’t carry his team and he was player of the year. Look at the lack of size and top tier rebounding. Look at the last player signed, who was a 4th or 5th choice because he is a black hole when the ball goes in, it stays in. I look at Arkansas, Tenn and others. If we finish in the top quarter of the SEC that will be an incredible job. Give us objectivity.”

I completely respect when you guys challenge my way of thinking.
That’s what makes Orangebloods so awesome is you guys give us the
opportunity to interact with you every day. If you have questions, ask
them! If you have a point, make one! I’d love to talk to you guys.

Anyways…

Most pundits/analysts/reporters/journalists/whoever thinks that Texas
finishes middle of the pack in the SEC, around 7-10.

Not this guy.

Give me a chance.

If this season implodes, it would represent a
catastrophic coaching failure because the talent on this roster should
have Texas in the hunt for a top 3 spot in the SEC at the end of
conference play, and competing for an SEC championship. To me,
anything can happen within the top 6, MAYBE we can throw in Arkansas,
who lost a LOT from last year. I really don’t care that they
brought in Calipari who is far past his prime as a head coach. Texas has Ohio State for their opening game of the season, so we’ll have a really
good test to gauge how this team is going to look, but I like my
chances.

On the recruiting front …

Our rivals national guys got with Shelton Henderson and discussed
visits, timelines, etc.

Henderson, a 6’5 forward out of Bellaire in the Houston area, is
currently ranked 21st overall and 4th at his position. He wants to
play at the next level with Nate Ament, another 6’7 forward in the
Virginia area coming in at 10th nationally.

They share 3 offers in common …

Duke, Louisville, Texas.

Henderson has already scheduled an upcoming visit to Texas, and things
are starting to take shape with the Houston talent.

I’ll be doing a film review on both he and Marcus Spears Jr and post it
here in the coming days. Read more below:

Marcus Spears Jr. was offered right at the end of August and boy is he
going to be a good one. The class of 2027 talent out of the Plano
area, is long, athletic, and still growing. I had to dig to find some
film I could post to the board, and the only one I could find is from
Instagram. I have some sources in the Dallas area that are in HS
coaching and say that this kid is the real deal, so I’m going to try
and find a way to get up there and see a game to judge for myself.

Thanks for reading, and everybody have a wonderful Friday!
