And no Sooners, it's not the same as us doing the Horns up. That's our thing, and is done in support of our team, not as a direct dis to the opposing fans. How 'bout get your own sign and stop using ours.

Well let's examine the possibilities....The Texas hand sign is emblematic of one of the most noble wild animals, with a deep and demonstrable impact on the course of American History. Now a Sooner...is a land thief, a dirt burglar, someone who refused to play by the rules. A squatter really. I suggest that the Sooners adopt a squatting position whenever a football play indicates that a university hand sign is appropriate.

I think that is debatable. Not sure if you guys made the rule or if the conference was just being "proactive" for once.
Based on what, your gut? What you want reality to be?

You stop explaining things to people once your realize they can only understand from their limited level of perception. It's pointless.

“The Horns down is disrespectful,” Brown said then. “We ought to talk about that as a league.”

Honestly, at this point the League is trying to determine what someone means by a Hand Gesture (they are trying to determine a players intent). Clearly you can't flip the bird, but you have no idea the intention of Horns Up / Horns Down or Guns Up / Guns Down. Either allow all of it or make it all illegal. The Big 12 has cemented itself as the Laughing Stock of College Football.

I don't know why they did it. Only two reasons I can think of. Texas either told/asked them to do it, or they thought it would make Texas happy if they did. I don't blame Texas at all, what good is power if you don't use it. BIG12 would do anything they were told to do, so why not really embarrass the sooners? I would love it if they banned the boomer sooner wagon. Okie would be so pissed. Maybe they should force Okie State to change their name officially to Okie Lite.

BIG12 is just following the golden rule, the one with the gold makes the rules. Just business, not personal.

Typical aggy delusional conspiracy theory. Just like you girls lied about when you ran away.

Ever think that maybe it’s been a controversial issue and the league felt a definitive ruling on it was warranted? That maybe consistency on what taunting is was needed? Nah, doesn’t fit the aggy hate propaganda. It must be the Longhorn Illuminati pulling strings. Typical.

Scholz check this dits out.

“That’s bullshit,” Switzer told The Athletic this week. “‘Horns down’ is part of the history of the game. It’s a natural reaction. It’s like someone gives you the finger. You give them the finger back, right? Well, if someone does a ‘Horns up’ you do a ‘Horns down’ back at them.”

I cannot comprehend how someone thinks throwing Hook’Em means f&ck you. It’s thrown up to show pride. Shit when I was in Oregon I threw it up to a fellow Horn and he did it right back. Maybe he was saying f@ck you then.

Scholz. I said I don't blame you guys at all and if anything I would like it if you pushed for more. But if you think that more than one school thinks this was a big deal and something that needed to be stopped, well we'll just have to disagree. Pretty sure the sooners have been doing it since forever. But we can agree on one thing, screw'em. Let's just hope some dumb ass does it at a crucial time and it costs them a playoff spot. I will be shocked if it doesn't happen at least once.

You honestly think they would make a special rule for one of the "Lesser" schools?

You'd think the flagship school of the Great State of Texas would have thicker skin. Next thing we'll be calling it the "H-D word".....

I think I can speak for most of us here that the horns down is laughable. I’ve been seeing it for over 30 years since being a student at campus/games. It’s a normal custom that wanna be’s use and none of us really give a sh^t.

Who is that fella with the horns up? I saw him after the OK game holding the golden I know he's in a wheelchair if you know who he is I'd like to know.

I have seen the horns down for over 50 years....so what?....much ado about nothing...next thing I know I will be flagged for saying OU sucks...

Dewey that was said in 2012!
And Herman and Sam bitched about it after the WVU game. Saying the felt disrespected yet they disrespected the Mizzou QB last year. Hypocrites:

Herman the Hypocrite: Taunts Missouri QB
During the Texas Bowl last year, Herman started mocking Missouri QB Drew Lock just prior to the Longhorns winning with a minute and a half left on the clock. Herman was taunting Lock with his “secure the bag” celebration he performed earlier in the game after a 79-yard Missouri TD. So, while Herman holds West Virginia’s 23-year-old QB to a higher standard of not high-stepping, it’s reasonable for a 43-year-old man to mock a 21-year-old player who is about to lose a game. I’m just trying to build a better understanding for Herman’s moral parameters here.

As it was stated before. Missouri had been taunting Texas at a luncheon or dinner. It was recorded. The secure the bag crap was also a taunt against Texas. It’s the same thing when Ole Boy from Arizona St. talked all that shit and got called out by the whole team on the sideline Ruuuuuuudy...Ruuuuudy...Ruuuuuudy. We didn’t taunt WV after scoring. The gripe is taunting. I’m ok with it if it’s not a rule can we start walking over players again when we make a great tackle? Can we throw Hook’Em in the faces of our opponents? If so cool! Let’s go! I’d love for the whole unsportsmanlike rule to go away. Let’s do pelvic thrust again in the end zone!!

Scholz. I said...
Yes. I replied to what you said. You won't consider the possibility that the league wanted to clear up the confusion. It had to be us forcing this. You fancy yourself as an intelligent, rational poster but you're just regurgitating the same tired aggy anti-t.u. propaganda as all the other sod busters.

You honestly think they would make a special rule for one of the "Lesser" schools?
Yeah, leagues never weighs in on rules. Especially when there's confusion. Good point. Rules only apply to Texas I guess.

The snowflake PC police have spoken. Next they'll be fining Texas fans for yelling OU sucks when singing Eyes of Texas. I don't do the hands down gesture but good grief, how is this even an issue? Are these snowflake players just that sensitive now?

You're really a little too sensitive. It's freaking football. Let's knock each others head off and talk about their mom's on any given play by by gosh if you do a downward hand sign, you've crossed the line. Is that really where we are at?

I'm going to buy you a giant wooden spoon. Like a boat paddle sized one. And every time you feel the need to stir sh!t, you can take out your big wooden spoon and start posting on OB. Cool?

You're right I wish the unsportsmanlike rule would go away. I want to go back to showing up the opponent screw all the "my feelings" get hurt when someone stands over me after knocking the shit out me. I wish we could go back to end zone celebrations. Why can't we grab our opponents flag and hang it upside down after every score. I mean let's get back to the old days! I'm not being sarcastic.

I agree, let the players have fun, taunt, whatever! Sorry but your coach looked like an asshat.

As mentioned, I don't do the 'offensive' hand gesture but to go as far as this deal has is a little ridiculous. If anything, by making it a penalty worthy, it creates opportunity for other fanbases to poke fun at the fact that it offended the players etc. It's just something that is better left alone but that would have been too easy. Guarantee you will see signs on Gameday etc. ridiculing, poking fun about this.

I don't do it either, and you are correct more attention has been brought to it due to it being a penalty. And now as a result it is making UT look like a bunch of whiners (at least that will be the perception due to the current coach, former coach, players and fanbase bitching about how disrespectful it is). To get rid of that perception, UT should petition the Big 12 to get rid of the rule in my opinion. Like I said earlier, the Big 12 has cemented itself as the Laughing Stock of College Football.
