I think they should have cameras on goal lines for sure. Not necessarily tv cameras...the small ones that can be placed on ground level and one up high with zoom ability maybe?

Maybe some cameras down the sidelines as well. How hard could it be?

I agree. All 4 pylons and differrent areas of goal post. Some of the up the middle stuff gets obstructed by so many players by the ball

Good point about the goal post. Field goals are very important and I feel like refs miss sometimes.

Maybe some sort of electronic device in the ball even. I know it sounds far fetched but how hard could it be? Ball touches front of end zone or sideline and a beep goes off.

I thought they already had pylon cam. Can't see into the scrum though.

It's not so much if the ball crossed the goal line as much as if it crossed while the runner was still up or still in possession. They definitely could improve some things with technology and cameras, but not to the extent that tennis and soccer have been able to do because there is no clear line of sight.

One simple thing they can do is make the ball neon yellow or something. I realize it sounds stupid but it would be a hell of a lot easier to spot a bright ball in a scrum versus a brown ball.

If the Tech player was standing IN the end zone when he grabbed the ball, how is that not a TD?

I agree with you. However, scrum issues and multiple players around the ball occlude the view to where it can't be confirmed... There just needs to be many more cameras where they can be placed to get as many angles as possible.

This. I agree that there needs to be cameras all over. They have them overhead in the NFL.

More cameras is certainly feasible. I don't expect a bunch of hi tech angles watching NW Missouri State vs Kent State, but the big 12 or any other p5 conference can certainly afford to invest in some cameras.

I guess you're too young to remember: DKR changed the UT jerseys to burnt orange when they started running the wishbone to camouflage the ball.

I'm too young to have witnessed it, but I know the story.

I was thinking the same thing. Install tiny chips in the nose of the ball and sensors all along the goal line. Once the ball crossed the goal line, the goal line lights up. Kinda like the NBA has on the backboard that lights up. It could alleviate those goal piles

Exactly. I was thinking a lot of time it is hard to see the ball and easier to see "if" a knee was down. The whistle being connected electronically to a clock would be another thing I would suggest. That way the "did the whistle blow" argument is history.

...and sensors in the knee pads, and have the ball light up with the color of whichever team is holding it, and ...
