Cant spell Bowl LOss U without OU...surprised at another big game flop?

Yeah. Hurts had nothing to do with Alabama championship game appearances. Remind me how they did without him.

Seriously. You are going to make a statement like that and want to question someone mental acumen.

I may be special, but even I know that you have been riding Hurts dick all year and now you want to take shots at him. Without Hurts, you wouldn't be in the playoff.
Well let’s see without him, Bama won a Championship when they pulled him because his passing was subpar. Good Lord do you even follow football?

Again Riley got the most he could out of Hurts but he’s still a marginal passer and only good enough to garner a runner up vote in the Heisman. I am also on record on this very board as saying that when Hurts was at Bama I was guilty of actually saying he sucked as a passer and going further and saying tongue in cheek that since he’s coming to OU he’s now a great passer, always has been.

My comments about Hurts being good all year are for posters just like yourself who eat it up and go berzerk.
I’m actually 100% amazed he was runner up to the Heisman.

I can assure you that you will be the only one on this board defending Hurts and his ability to diagnose coverages and go through his progressions. I saw him step up in the pocket 1 time against LSU the rest of the time it was 1 read and bailing out to the left or right prematurely.

I guess you missed the part where he was running for his life, because genius was trying to block one of the best pass rushers in college football with a TE.

I didn't see a lot of receivers getting open. You should be worried about lack of development at WR. What do you do when you work through your progressions and everyone is covered?

You can't watch these games. Are you color blind?

Yeah I’ll probably go home and drink myself to sleep over it. How will I ever make through life not knowing what our wr production for next year will look like beforehand?!?! And because Riley has shown a propensity to have a stable of bad receivers:rolleyes:

2016 - Starting QB in the NC game
2017 - Starting QB in the NC game
2018 - Comes of the pitch to replace starter in SEC championship game and leads 2 4th Qtr TD drives to win the game and take team back to the NC game
2019 - Starting QB in CFP semi-final game

Riley got the most out of Hurts? He didn't get what Nick Saban did.

Hurts did way more for ou, than ou did for him.

Hurts is not a great passer, but it's not because he can't read defenses or go through progressions. He has bad mechanics that results in him being inaccurate.

2019 Peach Bowl: 15-31 for 217 yards and 2 picks. Good night, end of discussion. Bring on Rattler. Riley most definitely helped Hurts if nothing more than through a lot more reps than he got at a Bama. His production was pretty good this year considering his limitations. Any you’re right he has bad mechanics throws off his back foot. Oh and by the way you conveniently left out what he did off the bench in the Clemson NC game . Gee I wonder why?

Belldozer sometimes I really do wonder about you. RJ Young is a sooner with a podcast and I gotta admit sometimes he can make this ol Longhorn laugh.

But I'm going to be blunt. Unlike you RJ actually goes to the OK games. And today he pulled no punches especially in regards to JH. Surely you realize that when you lose 63/28 stats especially qb stats area pretty irrelevant. Go back and watch the game. Cee Dee Lamb was responsible for 75% of those yards but he only caught 4 passes.

Go re-watch OU vs KState, ISU, Baylor 1and 2 and then come back and defend Hurts all you want. As a fan Hurts won OU a Conference Championship for which I’m grateful but he’s damn stressful to watch. By all measure for a player with his skill set he had a damn good career but it sure ended on a bad note but I agree it’s certainly not all his fault.

The thing that gets me about Hurts is that he is a mercenary and definitely acted like one against LSU. When his team was getting stomped on he seemed real nonchalant about it. I never saw him trying to lift his teammates up (although he may have done it off camera). He just had this look like he was blaming all his teammates in his mind and that it wasn’t his fault they were losing.

He is not a very demonstrative kid, but he is a born leader. It may have appeared that way to you, but I promise you that wasn't the case.

That’s his schtick. Every week he would give what sounded like his attempt at being philosophical in his press conferences. Always talking about the team needing to learn to win etc. I’m sure some of them were thinking that winning would be much easier if the zenmeister would stop turning the ball over himself. And btw I never saw Riley ever chew his ass after any of his multiple turnover games. I think Riley saw him as almost an equal or some crap.

Rattler has not impressed me. I admit I don't have a 100% never fail talent meter in my head--- but Rattler has a long way to go before he actually impresses me.

All I'm going to say.
Rattler has the talent, no doubt. He can run and he can pass. I wouldn't be shocked if he has a great career and contends for a Heisman at some point.

IMO, the biggest threat to his success is his attitude. If you haven't watched the QB1 series on netflix you should. He is featured on the most recent season (past seasons have Tate Martell, Jake Fromm - it is very interesting). Perhaps it is editing but he comes off as a major jerk and bad teammate. He almost has the backup QB in tears at one point after they lose a competition in practice. He seems quite cocky and arrogant throughout the season and ends up suspended at the end of the year. He and his family initially lie about the suspension, saying it's an injury.

So, the kid can play, but can he humble himself enough to be a good college teammate and player? Yet to be seen.

Sound like he’ll fit in well.

Rattler appears to be very accurate with his ball placement from what I’ve seen plus he has a perm and OU had done really well with QB’s that have perms. Mayfield and Murray.
