Mike Elko should be getting some looks for bigger jobs. 9 wins last year at Duke opens this year beating Clemson.
9-4 last year. Return 10 starters on O, 9 starters on D. Pretty sure they returned 100% of their yards from last year. Lost probably 2 of their top 4 defensive players, but like I said 9 return from a defense that only gave up 22 ppg last year.
Oh and went 10-3 vs. spread last year
3 of their losses last year were on the road by a combined 13 points. Lost at home to North Carolina by 3.

And it makes me think of our old friend Mack Brown. I thought he should retire after the season but this is the best game he's had since he went to NC. I look at their schedule they're not playing ND or FSU. They play Clemson but that doesn't look bad anymore. They play the U this month. And because of our old friend I'm pulling for the heels.

Dabo doesn’t believe in recruiting the transfer portal. His stubbornness to adapt is going to send that program spiraling downward fast. With his recruiting chops, he would kill it in the transfer portal. I actually think he’s a very good coach overall.
NFL is calling. We don't have time to learn on the job unless he is willing to stay 4 years.
His NC’s were pre transfer portal for the most part. Before it became what it is today anyway
That’s a dumb question. No one wins a title because of one thing but playoff teams have made MASsIVE additions through the portal that have unquestionably helped them get there.

The portal is a fact of life and if you don’t recruit it you are going to fall behind. Just a matter of time.

I’m not offended, and yes in toddy’s world of college football you will not win a national title without making additions though the portal. I mean teams are adding day 1 impact players out of the portal. Acting like you can just swear that off, and still compete at a high level is silly
As far as who has won a national title because of the portal? Didn’t Joe Burrow come though the portal? If he did then LSU. Don’t recall if he came though the portal or if he was a grad transfer. Which was the precursor to the portal

Yep, just checked and Joe Burrow would've had to sit a year but didn't because he graduated.
That is not the same as the new 1 time transfer rules. So by these principles, Dabo won 2 natty's with transfer's I guess.

Burrow was a grad transfer buy that rule and his(and others success) was one of the precursor to the current transfer portal world.
Georgia has played in the transfer portal too remember they picked up it daniels. Didn’t really work out. And ok if you have first round draft picks and 5 star recruits at every position. Then you probably don’t need the portal. Everyone else? Gonna need the portal.
The transfer portal only started a few years ago. As more and more teams bring in players from the transfer portal it's inevitable that will have title teams with tp players on their rosters.
Also less heralded teams improved dramatically thru the transfer portal. Sonny Dykes has played the tp since he was at SMU and it's been a big part of his success. The tp was the biggest reason that TT won 8 games last year. Not enough attention is played in what the tp have done for the lesser known schools.

Dabo has all of that at Clemson but he's resistant to the to. But is he wants to get Clemson back to where they were he has to start playing it. Hell even Saban does it.
Tap the breaks Cali. Lesser known schools get the disappointments and busts through the transfer portal. See Buechele and the Mordecai. If SMU had a QB that developed into a solid player, he would bolt in a heart beat. See the Wake Forest QB that went to Notre Dame and the UCF QB at OU.

But SMU was nothing until Dykes got there. And last year TCU had at least 3 starters thru the transfer portal. I know at least one who's playing in the NFL. And look at who Dykes added this year. 3 of those 4 and 5* stars from TX who went to Alabama a couple of years ago are now at TCU including Tommy Brockemeyer.
Another team to look at a team that I'm following this year is Oregon State. That DJ guy from Clemson is of to a good start. TT is another example mostly on their defense. They have a good DC in Tim Deruyter and he's taking the players nobody wanted into a good defense.
And all these teams are building around this until their recruiting is good enough that they will not have to in the future. I've been wanting to talk about the tp and how it relates to the less heralded schools for a long time. And don't forget Utah and Cam Rising. You mentioned Sam Hartman and Notre Dame. Hey I'm picking those 2 teams to be in the playoffs. I hope you have the patience to read all this

Yeah I have to agree. I was gonna say TCU (they got throttled by Georgia, AKA, an NFL team) I’m sure there are many other examples, but it’s a hard argument to say anyone will win a NC through the transfer portal. Alabama is not immune to getting their fair share of stud transfers as well. But they, and others, still have the foundation from which to build. So you could argue all it takes is that one or two key players to get you over the hump.
Jury is still out on Colorado. Lots of emotion and energy during Primes debut. I mean…how many Dion commercials…??? Geez. If I see that damn duck and Saban again….
Is their total transfer-mation team really that good for a 12 game season? Does Dion’s son throw for 500 per game? National championship? C’mon! My bet is they just blew a major wad on the TCU field. Epic. But they’ll get back to reality when they start playing a few real teams. They’re not SEC ready.

I'm actually picking NB to win. Urban Meyer is calling Colorado the ultimate experiment and Lee Corso does not support what they're doing. There's to many drawbacks to what CO is doing.
Dion got rid of the scrubs, and there was a bunch of em. You wanna be an athlete you have to be hostile. No fear. Kick some ass. My guess is Colorado had built up a team full of pot smokers. Simple as that.
Dabo HAD all that. He doesn’t right now. The talent level on that roster isn’t what it was 5-6 years ago. Hence grrrijg basically shit out @duke. The only TD they scored was due to a muffed punt
