Clob...It's all up to you

Pretty sure Perkins knew Malcolm Brown who happened to be an All American.

If Shackleford can lock down the center spot, this oline is going to be great for the next 3 or 4 years.

I'm not counting on him, but I do love a good surprise.

Ok....When is spring break and how long is it?.....After Spring Break how many days are we allowed to practice?

Easy killers. I've just been a little busy. I'm going to wait a few practices until they put the pads on. Shirt and shorts won't show us sh!t. Need to see what they look like when they are going at it. Fear not, I shall get some nuggets.

Damn, I was afraid you were really Randolph Duke and aggy hit men finally got you.

He is just busting your chops over the second L in the name. DT Malcom Brown was an All American. RB Malcolm Brown was not.

Oh, shit my bad, I thought he was saying Brown wasn't an All American. I'm not really one that pays close attention to grammar or spelling on a forum since I do this for recreation. If it is a word my system underlines when misspelled, I will right click and pick the correct spelling, on names, I usually just ignore.

I had to override autocorrect to get Malcom instead of Malcolm.

Dont sweat it Son.....getting spelling smack from micco is like taking advice on bicycle riding from a fish.

2016 Running Back Analysis

giphy.gif

The season-long performance by [D'Onta] Foreman and what Chris Warren was able to do over his final two games makes running back arguably the strongest position group on either side of the ball heading into 2016.

Both backs failed to get a high volume of carries (only 166 of Texas’ 529 rushing attempts). Perhaps the biggest reason was because they both were unable to make it through a whole season healthy. The sample of the production from both backs suggests that if they can manage to get themselves to the stadium in game day ready to roll they’ll do some damage.

Foreman has had to work for everything he’s earned in his football career, and he’s earned the right to be the leader of the pack. Texas needs more players like Foreman who are self-starters and carry a constant chip on their shoulder.

He is going to be put in a position to set the tone and challenge everyone in the room now that he’s the veteran of the group. If he succeeds there’s no reason why Texas should not have one of the better backfield stables in the Big 12.

The Longhorns don’t have another back like Kirk Johnson. We only caught a glimpse of what the young California product is capable of as an ankle injury against Texas Tech ended his true freshman season.

The plan when Johnson was recruited was for the offensive staff to use him similarly to how the Rams used Marshall Faulk... If Johnson can bring a multi-faceted dynamic to the offense on a consistent basis it will give Sterlin Gilbert a game-breaking skill position player, something the Longhorns did not have enough of last season.

Thoughts On The WRs

Armanti Foreman needs to "get his head in the game" lest he becomes another UT WR with great game-changing potential who... graduated. Foreman has legit 4.3 speed and is perfect for the new GO (the official name for the Gilbert Offense which I just made up and declared it "official") to wear out DBs both physically and mentally. Armanti, you're gonna be a junior, dude. Only two years left. Do it!

The couple of times we got to see Ryan Newsome with the ball last year, he impressed - like a little waterbug darting on a dime.

Deandre McNeal just needs to somehow, someway get the rock; then release any pent up frustrations he may have from last season onto whoever dares come near him.

John Burt. Enough said.

I can't wait to see what EE Collin Johnson is gonna bring to the table to make it a feast. From what we've heard so far, it's lookin' yummy!

------------

Edit: It's now GO™®.

Absolute thoroughbreds in the barn ....all we need is the jockey that can get it out to them. If nothing else, we can trot out rocket ship after rocket ship on fly patterns to have the other teams D backs completely gassed by the end of the 1st quarter.

Yepper, just like the Bailor Bares.

And come summer we'll be adding another 4.3 guy in Davion Curtis + Reggie Hemphill-Mapps who opted out of being an EE to run track for his HS this spring. So, we should be rocket shipping for the next 3 years at least.

Unless your name is Malcom Brown, then deal with it. This is message board, and I am not a writer. So if you feel the need to be the grammar/spelling police, then you are an idiot.

Texas has 15 scholly seniors and 14 scholly juniors returning for this year's Spring Practice. Of those 29, my extremely early prediction is nine will start on September 3 while four will be 2nd on the depth charts. If correct, that leaves 13 starting spots for the younger guys to fill.

So, who's gonna fill 'em? Who has the most to prove?

When you get past the QB position, the answer to that question this spring will be tough.

I might have to say Terrell Cuney or Elijah Rodriguez at center because if they can't handle it, in all likelihood it will fall to EE freshman, Zack Shackelford. The good news is we're hearing good news about Shack after three practices. And Rodriguez as well.

Then again, we need a savvy MLB who'll make the right calls and allow the Predator to go head hunting. So, Hager? Wheeler? Dare I say... Santos? Charlie has repeatedly called Malik his MIKE so far this spring, so I dunno exactly what's going on at this point.

Gilbert teaches this offense with a lot confidence and swagger and makes it fun for the players. A lot of this offense is about attitude.

Gary Patterson made the flip and went from 4-8 to 12-1 and 11-2 and from averaging just more than 25 points per game to more than 44 points per game.

Can Texas get anywhere close to that? So far, it seems the only way to slow this offense down, is by not trusting it or overthinking it or by watering it down.

Strong has told Gilbert he has free reign to run the offense however he sees fit. If that's the case, Strong may be rewarded for taking what surely feels like a total leap of faith, which is what Gary Patterson called it. And Patterson now calls it the best decision of his coaching career."

Don't forget, if all else fails....

That's the kind of answer I would have expected from a clueless blowhard.

all respect Topgum.....What do you expect? I must have missed something.

top gum you kind of slid in a cheesy misspelling as to say he could not have seen that guy as an all american when you knew exactly who he was talking about. It's like telling someone on Friday "see you tomorrow" after work and they say "I am not seeing you till Monday"...you knew exactly what they meant.

Yes, I knew exactly what he meant. But he didn't know what he meant, so that makes me an idiot.

No...it doesnt make you an idiot....but it does make you come off as a jerk,,,,not that you are, but it makes you look like you are trying hard to be one.

Well, I am a jerk, and I achieve that with minimal effort.

well....as they said in Crimson Tide as each man was verifying the authenticity of the message....I concur
