My informal poll of Spurs fans show that he doesn't have many fans here.

Most of us Spurs fans are pretty bitter about how he treated the franchise. He was never honest with the team and basically stole a year's worth of salary with what most of us consider a fake injury.

I couldn't care less what he does or what happens to him now, he is going to figure out that the grass isn't always greener. He isn't built for the LA spotlight and it's going to shine on him bright.

And yes, he is going to sign with the Lakers and end up being just as miserable as Dwight Howard was when he was there. Some people can handle the bright lights of LA and New York, and some people can't. I have no doubt he isn't one that can.

2nd place isnt too bad for a Canadian team.....im a Spurs fan and hope Kawhi never wins another title....

Maybe he had some people in his ear saying how playing through certain type of injuries can make things worse. Like with Isiah thomas, he still hasnt really recovered after playing through injury with the celtics. He tried to play through his hip injury and he ended up losing out on a 100 mil+ payday for it. Anyway who knows, but he's set for a max deal and i bet he has people talking to him about that. Whoever he plays for he's gonna get paid.

Or maybe a "Deep thigh bruise" in which every doctor said they could not find anything wrong and cleared him was just an excuse to get paid last year for only playing 9 games in which were not even full games. Kawhi and his circle tried to make the Spurs organization look bad because it was said they were making him play with an injury.....which is just idiotic when you play 9 games.....Kawhi laid down on his team and for that i hope he never wins another title.

Who knows, I'm no spurs fan so I dont care but if he said he was hurt, I wouldnt be one to tell a man he's lying. At the end of the day he rested up, got fully healthy and is about to make a huge payday. He got what he wanted so i guess it worked.

I hope that Leonard wins a title while playing for Toronto and it eats up Popovich, who is a world class jerk. The best thing is, Kawhi got to get away from him.

I'll root for toronto so maybe just maybe Kawhi stays there and we only have to see him 2-3 times a year.
I agree that pop is a grade A d-bag but he's one helluva bball coach. Now if he would only shut up and stick to that....

Edited post because my phone doesn't like this forum with anything less than perfect signal.

I hope Kawhi goes to LA and the first game he comes to San Antonio, I'm buying front row tickets and I'm going to carry a sign that reads

No One Remembers a Kwitter

Or

For anyone who wants to root against the warriors and has twitter, this is a pretty cool little writeup about toronto, some of their fans and the city. Another reason to root against the warriors

First in response to Greg Popovich being rude to reporters. He used to be like that but a few years ago his wife told him to cool it especially to Doris Burke and Craig Sager. In fact he became close to Sager before he died. Now he's the best interview among coaches. He's not pompous and pretentious like Phil Jackson. GP is in fact a renaissance man. He's what PJ thinks he is. In fact he's the exact opposite of PJ.

He's always been able to keep players in San Antonio and this was the first time he wasn't able to. I don't think anyone really knows what went on behind closed doors. We all know Kawhi is different. He doesn't have a social media. He doesn't have an entourage. It's only his girlfriend, his mother, and his uncle, not even his agent is in his circle. So nobody knows what he'll do this summer. When it comes to KL never pay attention to social media.

But know this about Kawhi. He's the best player on the floor in this year's finals. He defended Giannis very well in the finals so what makes you think he can't guard Draymond Green or Klay Thompson? The Raptors held Milwaukee the league's highest scoring offense to 94.ppg in the last 4 games. He has raised his game to championship level in this year's playoffs he had an incredible series against the 76ers, that game winner in game 7 was unforgettable.

So yeah I think they can win it all. They beat GS by 20 points in Oakland without Kawhi. Before you say it was a regular season game remember that if it was the Warriors thag did it we all know they would have made a big deal out of it.

Without going into more detail I'm picking the Raptors in 7 with Kawhi winning his second finals MVP.

I like Durant and hate to go against any fellow Longhorn Spurs fans, but, I am rooting for Toronto. I am still a little annoyed that they blew off a trip to the White House. I don't care anybody's politics, but, does everything have to be "you are either for us or against us"? It is not the end of the world, but, I personally would have liked to see some statesmanship.

I didn't post this but I thought Toronto would beat the Warriors 113/104. I thought Kawhi would go for 30+. I thought Steph and Klay would also go for 30+. Didn't quite get it right. Steph had a big night but the Raptors were able to show down Klay enough to win. I thought the rest of the Warriors would not shoot well and they didn't.

Well Kawhi didn't have a big night Pascal Siakam was the one with the 30+ game. And Kawhi hit some big shots in the 4th quarter The media hasn't paid any attention to the Raptors. If they had they would have noticed that Toronto can match Golden State with 3 point shooters and depth. I finally figured out how to beat the Warriors. You have to have a team that is long and athletic, a team that can make defensive rotations quickly, the Raptors are that kind of team. In other words they have a better team than the Warriors.

The eastern conference has been inferior to the western conference for the last 10 years. But this year has been different. Two of the three best players in the league are in the eastern conference Kawhi, and Giannis. The Raptors beat an up and coming 76ers team with an unforgettable shot on the last play of game 7. An instant classic. Then they came back front being down 2/0 against a Milwaukee team with the best record in the NBA and looked good doing it. The press talked about how good GS looked against Portland. They said that this year SC would win the finals MVP. Wrong. Portland is a weak, very weak, team emotionally and mentally. Everyone in the western conference is. Steve Kerr is a kid with his own candy store.

One last thing. Now Canada and the U.S. are not enemies in fact Canada is probably our best friend in the world. Also there are no Canadian players on the Raptors. But for Canada these finals are like the gold medal final between the two countries. GS represents an area of northern California Toronto represents the entire country. When those fans take the Canadian flag and pass it around and wear their we the north banner it's hard to stand up against it. If the Raptors get on a big run, and tonight they will, it will affect the Warriors, something like that will affect the greatest of teams. This is a textbook lesson of something bigger than yourself

A blowout tonight
TR 135
GS 102

The Raptors deserved to lose. You don't deserve to win when you start the second half the way they did especially in the NBA Finals. Then they had chances to come from behind late in the game. You don't hold an offense like the Warriors scoreless for five minutes very often. When you do you make the shots especially up close and they didn't do that. So it's now tied and were going to Oakland for games 3 and 4.

If KD was healthy, this series would be over in 4. Toronto doesn't have the guns to keep up offensively if KD is healthy. Heck for the last quarter, GS was down to Steph, Boogie who is coming off of achilles and quad tears, Shawn Livingston who must have made some contributions to another deity to get his knees back, and Iggie who the raptors believed couldn't throw it in the ocean.

A healthy KD, Klay, and Steph and this series doesn't make it out of California

Popovich would have led the Thunder to multiple championships I bet.
Maybe. Still in Oklahoma. I think Steve Kerr is grossly underrated. Maybe the greatest NBA coach ever. All those guys WANT to play for him.

I wouldnt crown kerr some kind of greatest nba coach ever. As a rookie HC he had a healthy curry, thompson, green, iguodala, barnes, and bogut. They won 67 games and beat the cavaliers. He's a great coach no doubt about it, one of the best in the league today, but he was set up for victory and I would bet many head coaches with that roster would have won it all. With that said he didn't win another until he picked up an additional future hall of famer on the roster in durant, and then it was just stupid easy. He deserves credit for being a guy they want to play for and that could be a big part of why they are so good. But I mean, luke walton was 39-4 with this team when kerr was injured in 2015/2016 so I might pump the brakes on the goat talk.

Injuries are part of the game. The Warriors have been blessed the other way and by that I mean the Warriors played teams they eye missing key players.

Well you can't be number one every year and this year Toronto is unquestionably the better team in these finals. The media was making a big deal out of Klay Thompson not playing in Game 3. Well he played tonight and GS still got thumped. Things that happened to the other team are finally happening to them. This time it was the Warriors losing their poise, taking bad shots, to's, and getting called for technical's. Speaking for me I enjoyed the hell out of it. Now they're down 3 to 1 and in the worst kind of road game.

I mentioned above about something bigger than yourself. Toronto is representing an entire country. They're 1 win away and it's starting to taking the feel of an Olympic gold medal matchup. If Toronto gets on a run there's no way the Warriors will be able to stop it.

Raptors are in great position but game 5 is an absolute must win. At home with an NBA title waiting - they can't let it go back to Oakland for a game 6. Warriors still have plenty of firepower and in today's NBA with the 3-point shot so prevalent, coming back from a 1-3 deficit is not nearly as impossible as it was 10 years ago. If KD does return and is reasonably healthy, this could get very interesting. He's their difference maker. Without him, the Warriors are just another NBA team that you can game-plan and take away certain strengths.

It sounds horribly cliche but at this level in the NBA Finals, it's just a make or miss game. Just getting an open look is tough enough - so when you get a good look you have to knock them down. Raps made their shots while the Dubs missed their open looks. Their only exception was Klay Thompson.

Raptors have to maintain their defensive intensity and continue to play Curry physical. Notice they are trapping him almost every time he tries to pick and roll which forces him to give up the ball. They have to be careful not to lose track of him after they trap him because he's the best in the game at moving without the ball and will immediately run to another open spot and set himself up again with an open three or an easy drive to the basket. He's a freaking nightmare to guard and the Raptors are doing a decent job of at least making him work for his offense. That strategy just drains on him by the time the 4th quarter rolls around. He's got no energy left by then and is just trying to will himself to create shots or set up others. Amazingly, that little guy can still kill you even when he's dead tired.

Honestly, I'd like to see the Raptors pull this out. Being a Spurs fan I still have a soft spot for Kawhi and Danny Green to get another title.

If Durant comes back, then I’ll hold my nose and pull for GS, hoping he leads the way in three straight wins.

Kawhi can kiss my ass after last year, but I like Toronto and their fans, so I’ll pull for them if KD stays out.

Other than KD, I can't stand Golden State. Kawhi winning a title would be a fitting way to stick it to Pop, which would be cool and karma. I hope that Toronto wins it.

I liked Pop myself and definitely worthy of HOF. He began irritating me when I had to listen to his insulting political opinions.

Pop is one of the top 5 coaches in the history of the NBA not sure why sticking it to him is something anyone would want. He will be the 5th or 6th Spur going to the Basketball HOF.

Not saying that Pop is not a good coach. The guy is a world class jerk/a-hole though. He needs to learn some people skills in how he treats others. The way that he treats reporters and others who he deems "beneath him" is uncalled for and classless. He's better than no one.

When KD wen down last night I turned to a buddy of mine and said one word----_ "Achilles".

We find out today if that's the case.
