College Football Playoff Predictions?

Didn't want to start the Arizona State thread, but these guys are talking a LOT of shit.

QB said he is gonna go out and prove he is the better QB
DL said he is gonna go out and prove Texas made a mistake letting him go
Alford said the difference in Texas and ASU is the culture in the building, ASU has it, Texas doesn't

meanwhile...

Ant Hill says their RB is really good
That rb Cam Skattebo is an old fashioned between the tackles kind of player. We have an athletic defense it'll be interesting to see how our defense will do against a back who's style is to run right at you.

They say when you have a fast defense that can really run to the ball the best thing you can do is to run right at them. At least that's what they say. And no it's not too early to talk about a Texas game when it's the playoffs.

LBs are gonna have to fit right. DTs are going to have to require doubles. Ends are going to have to squeeze the edges. Every play, all game.

I like the fact that people are talking sh!t. It shows 2 things-
1. We haven't put enough muh fuggas in the hospital this year to stop the sh!t talking
2. AZ st thinks they can beat us...... which is locker room bulletin board material.

Oh, these dudes know each other. They are the ones talking.... I like it.

ASU lost to sand Aggy and barely escaped with a last minute comeback against Texas St. Both of those teams held Scatterpoop to under 100 yards.

As long as we’re prepared and disciplined, this contest shouldn’t be close.

I’m in the same camp Drtx. People are talking about Skattebo like he’s Earl or Ricky. He didn’t go for 100 yards in almost half the games he played. KSU, Cincinnati, sand aggy, Southwest Texas Stsre, and Wyoming all held him in check and that was when they had a decent passing game. None of those teams are on our level on defense. The talent level overall isn’t close.
We play our game and we’ve got the subs in starting the 4th.
Dark Sark shows up and decides to prove he smarter than Smart Sark and it will get dicey. The problem with playing guys like Skattabo is they’ve got just enough shit in their neck to beat your ass if you don’t put them away.

Yeah but at the end of the season they started to gain momentum. They're a good team now and with Skattebo, their qb Leavit, and wr Xavier Guillory they have a solid trio.

This is a solid football team.

My synopsis...

AzSt is a very good team. They don't have much in the elite talent ranks, but they are like playing KState back in the day under Bill Snyder. They truly believe they can win. They are going to Atlanta to win this game and have ZERO fear. Texas does not scare them. Change that shit 1st quarter and lean on them the rest of the game.

This game rests on the shoulders of Quinn being sharp, especially on 3rd down and in the RZ. As stated above (EtLH I think) we need Smart Sark and not Dark Sark. If he just calls plays that allows our talent to overwhelm the AzSt defense we will be fine. If he tries to do all the "look how smart I am" bullshit then we will be in trouble. K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple Sark!

Take away the big plays in the run game and squeeze the pocket. They are average in protecting the QB. Leavitt is good, but he is a major step down from Klubnik.

They don't turn the ball over. So you are going to have to stop them and make them punt. This also means that our offense is going to have to sustain drives and play penalty free. Quinn is going to have to be smart with the ball. The good thing is that AzSt doesn't sack the QB much, but they do get INTs

Get after their ass on O on 1st down and keep them at or behind the sticks. Show some different looks and make them panic up front. Cause some timely penalties and make them start to try and force things to happen. That is where you will see the mistakes.

We should control this game from start to finish. SHOULD. Be sharp early, allow the defense to do their thing and we will see you in the SF in Arlington!

You mentioned Sarkisian. Interesting coaching matchups in this game. Keep an eye out for the AZS coach Kenny Dillingham. In just his second year he got them in the playoffs. He's a young fella only 34 but he's an alum and he could be there for the long haul. He might be a rising star.

But the most compelling matchup in this game is Coach K against their oc Marcus Arroyo. Dyk that both of these men are finalists for the Broyles award? Coach K has been a winner everywhere he's gone. Arroyo is one of those coordinators who's not a good hc, think Brent Venables, but a top notch coordinator. He coached Justin Herbert at Oregon and they won a rose bowl.

I'm looking forward to watching these 2 guys matching wits.

awwwww hell.....the best watch of the day will not be the game. It will be watching Weevil's full on rant live game postings. I want to know the O/U on the following:
how many times will Weevil call for Sarks head?
How many times will he call for Ewers head?
How many times will hostage rescue be called to Weevils house during the game?

I love ya Weevil, but ya gotta admit you get a tad bit excited during games....

LOL...

Question 1 -- although I've never asked Sark to do anything other than give up play calling whilst being HC, I set the O/U 3.5
Question 2 -- set this one low...I'll complain about him being an idiot, but I'm not sure I've called for his benching so I'll say O/U 0.5
Question 3 -- no bet on this one...too tough to handicap LOLOLOL.

Oh, I admit and have many times on here. I'm irrational and I'm addicted to plates of crow

@oldhorn2 you and @freeper know this but this guy Cam Skattebo is the best white running back since Billy Clyde Puckett 😂

For the rest of you this was a character from a Dan Jenkins novel.. Also Dan Jenkins was the greatest college fb writer of all time

OK....I give you that....but I think the best sports writer ever was Dan Cook here in San Antonio. The stories he told about Titanic Thompson were First Class. Then his semi retired bookmaker,,Broadhind was in a class by itself......Lest we forget He is the guy that gave us ....It aint over till the fat Lady sings.....

Tim Skataboo be talking sheeeeeeet......

There will be no in-between. Either it will be James Brown or a huge foot in mouth. I do like that Texas (so far) is not engaging this verbal warfare.

Quinn being classy:

He knows what packedpoo and qb are going up against. The defense is passing around their smack talk on twitter.
I miss the days of dudes like Larry Bird or MJ or Chris Doleman that would tell you exactly what they were about to do to you- and then do it- and then laugh at you the rest of the game while proceeding to torch you time and time again.
That's a fvcking lost art form.

I'm not trying to apologize for Arizona State but I have some opinions. They have a lot more to lose than we do. Some of the playoff teams like Texas Georgia, Ohio State, and Notre Dame can be confident that they'll be back soon. But Arizona State doesn't have that luxury. They lose and they'll sink back into irrelevance. This is their big chance. And we have to know this on Wednesday.

Trash talking is absolutely an art form and only the greatest can do it. Larry Bird was hands down the trash talking king. Here’s a compilation of stories about his trash talk victims. He was the only one who would tell you exactly what he was going to do before it happened and there wasn’t a damn thing anyone could do about it.

Birds trash talking is legendary. Don't forget about when right handed Bird beat the Trail Blazers shooting almost 50pts using his left hand. Afterwards he told an interviewer he was saving his right hand for Magic & the Lakers. Ice cold

I hope he has his post game quotes ready when he only has 60yds.

It’s definitely hard to call your shot and follow through with it in the world we live in today. Some dudes just got lucky and made the call at the right time.

Here’s one I’ll always remember-

Jimmy Johnson 1993 Cowboys guaranteed win against SF NFC Champ game: led to the now infamous “How ‘bout ‘dem Cowboys!!”

This is a terrible matchup for Arizona State at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. To me, that's the difference in this game. I see this one going similar to the Big 12 championship game from last year against Okie State.

Their best WR Jordan Tyson is out for the year and he was a 3rd team All American. They're going to have to rely heavily on Skatteboo and that's just not good for them. Our defense is stingy against the run. They have a really good young QB in Sam Leavitt. He's going to be a really good player but I think the inexperience in big games is going to show up against our defense.

Their defense is one of the worst pass rushing units in the country and they only have 16 sacks on the year. That bodes well for Quinn because when he has time he can pick defenses apart. It's when he's pressured that he struggles. I expect a big day from him. Having Isaiah Bond back is huge for the offense.

Texas wins this one 41-16.

In the other games I already said Oregon 41 Ohio State 39.

Penn State/Boise State I don't know

Notre Dame/Georgia has all the makings of a great defensive game.
ND 21
GA 17

I know I've already mentioned this a couple of times but the PK vs Aroyo matchup will be a good one. The last time I saw we're a 12 point favorite and that's about right. Like Clemson the sun devils play well enough not to embarrass themselves but the longhorns come through

Texas 31
Arizona State 21

Boise State had their shots but blew them. Penn St took advantage of every Boise St miss. I think Boise had some bad luck on the hands to face on the TD called back and the intentional grounding was bogus but it was obvious Penn St was a bigger better team. BS also missed two short FGs which killed momentum. Does a BS or similar team get a bye next year? I doubt it.

I definitely think the seeding changes for next year. Possibly reseeding after the first round or just doing away with the conference championship byes and going 1-12 with the first 4 getting the byes.
