My phone has ringing today from people I know in the Tampa Bay area about University of South Florida WR coach Ron Dugans. I'm hearing his is a strong candidate to replace Les Koenning, who was recently fired by Strong. Dugans previously worked on Strong's staff at Louisville and has strong ties in Florida (played football at FSU). He appears to be a natural fit.
In addition, Tampa Bay Times reporter Joey Knight, who covers USF, put Dugans' name out there on Friday.
There is nothing concrete right now, but Dugans is a name to keep your eye on.
