@DustinMcComas question got me thinking we needed a new dad tips thread.
First, ditch the swaddle blanket. Get a swaddle sack. They cannot break out of it and sleep better. You can later transition into just a regular sack with limited loss sleep. Kid learns, when sack is on, time to sleep.

Second,
Always turn the kid sideways to change the diaper. If you do it from the bottom and go to lift those legs to slide the new diaper under, you are asking to get shit on.
Third,
Always put the new diaper under the old diaper before you take it off. That way you can quick put on the new one so the kid cannot piss on the changing table. Or if the kid should piss, you have the new diaper under to catch it. Changing the changing table covered in piss or shit is not fun.
Fourth,
Dads with girls, wipe front to back on poop. Enough of it gets all over the place you do not need to add to the mess up front.
Fifth,
Get a sleep schedule from day one and sound machine. Read these books:

Sixth,
Sack up on the night shift. Confucius say, sleepy mom no like nookie. Rested mom love helping husband.
Seven,
Read a book every night before bed. It is part of said routine above.

You are going to make a million mistakes. Get over it, learn, and move on.
