* Texas receiver Al’Vonte Woodard was on the sidelines working out without a boot. Longhorn football coach Tom Herman stated the boot came off during practice on Friday. That is a positive sign in terms of his recovery.

* Herman talked to the players about the importance in discipline, telling them that the program is at a place with talent that is common with the big boys, but managing discipline is the difference maker once the talent is even,

* Drinking game - Have a shot every time Tom Herman says "1-0". Too late, you're dead. Seriously, it's a point that was stressed time and time again.

* Tyler Owens did some work with the kickoff return group today.

* Kenyatta Watson earned praise in the punt return drill as a gunner.

* Herb Hand was in an ass-kicking mood on Sunday. There was definitely a "No BS" attitude to the proceedings today and anyone that might have flinched pre-snap in a drill heard about it.

* Josh More and Jake Smith took the majority of the word in punt return drills.

* Parker Braun is still doing a lot of watching and learning early in camp when the 1s and the 2s line up against each other.

* At the beginning of practice, Texas football coach Tom Herman addressed the team. He talked about the importance of putting Saturday’s practice behind them and focusing on the day. In addition, he mentioned receiver Collin Johnson and said, “Collin, you said you wanted practice to be harder, right?” Johnson replied with “Yes sir.” Herman proceeded to remind them of what they needed to accomplish on Sunday.

* Here are the players who fielded returns on Sunday: Montell Estell, Keaontay Ingram, Brennan Eagles, Joshua Moore and Jake Smith.

* During defensive line drills, I thought Ta’Quon Graham showed a lot of great footwork. He shows a natural ability to hit his intended target in a hurry. In addition, Keondre Coburn really stood out. Strong upper body and good footwork. He moves pretty good for a guy listed at 340 pounds.

* The biggest emphasis on Sunday was ball security. I mentioned this in my quarterback observations, but the throwers joined the receivers for another ball security drill. Players ran toward Corby Meekins, who was holding a practice dummy. They went in the opposite direction of where Meekins angled the dummy, and was greeted by Drayton, who would swing his blocking shield pad to cause a fumble.

At one point, the receivers kept slipping while trying to make their first move. At least three players in a row went down. Drayton was repeating himself about how to properly secure the ball.

Out of nowhere, Herman appeared, and he was not happy.

“Do it our way, not your way,” Herman screamed.

Suddenly, everyone started to perform better, and Herman seemed pleased before moving over another practice group.

* Receiver Travis West’s left arm was in a sling. He did not participate in practice.

* Linebacker DeGabriel Floyd was running sprints on the sidelines with three kids. Those were his workout buddies during a portion of practice.
