Really nothing new here. Just about every team has to deal with offseason stupidity to some degree. Some more than others.
Don't forget that when we were competing for conf & national championships, there was a pretty popular slogan with the upside-down 'horns sign....."Book'em Horns!".
In my opinion, this really bothered Mack & ushered in the kinder, gentler, coddle the kids era that earned us the new title of being soft.

According to report,the guy was driving too fast on wet road and hit another car then got out and ask Is everyone OK? Boyd then proceeded to knock his lights out.Sorry,very dumb on Boyd and you cannot fix stupid.It does not have anything to do with coaching.

Yup it does , it made the paper and new as Boyd name and that he was playing FB at UT, just adding that last part pulls Texas into the story and who does he answer to at Texas,,,Herman.if nothing would have been said about him playing at Texas, it might have been different.. should have kicked him out for good , as that puts a good light on Texas now don't it in all the national press, " Texas Player Beats the Shit out other driver in accident that he was in, a clear case of Road rage, what the hell are they doing down there at Texas with their players?? If your 1st reaction to being involved in a fender bender is to knock the snot out of the bad driver then you don't belong in polite society. You belong in jail and not on scholarship at the University of Texas. This wreaks of out of control thuggery and looks bad for UT.
I think players are different in this era than in the 60's and 70"s.Players come from different educational and social backgrounds and have some catching up to do and some do not. and the question is how do you elevate these type of players when their mother and dad did not.If he is worth saving and can play,save him,if not,you cut the chord
