Do OSU and Michigan deserve to go the playoffs?

Washington is overrated. Out of conference was a joke. They'll get blown out by Bama. I think Penn State should be in over them.
Bingo, and that was the tough one that the committee was looking hard at.

I really believe the three "best" teams were Bama, OSU, and Clemson. The 4th spot was the crapshoot. I honestly feel that the 4th team - RIGHT NOW - is USC. I'll bet if you ask several top teams to pick a team or two who they would not want to play, many would probably pick USC. But their resume includes 3 losses which puts them out.

For those going by the conference championship only, think about VT almost beating Clemson last night and possibly Florida or someone else in the SEC upsetting Bama - I know a long, long shot but strange things happen in CF, especially in a ONE GAME scenario. That would leave 2-loss PSU, 3-loss VT, 3-loss Florida (or someone else in the SEC) and Washington who played Idaho, Portland State, and Rutgers - yes,, Idaho, Portland State and Rutgers out of conference !!!!! My question to some who strictly favor conference champs: would you even bother to tune in to something like that ? Or even if Alabama made it through - being unbeatable in the SEC (as they are), would you tune in to watch them massacre VT (keep in mine, came close last night), PSU, and Washington ? Seriously ? The committee, for the most part, got it right by selecting the "best" teams - based on the TOTAL resume and not just one game.

I'm fine with the results. Penn State is not deserving. If you want to make the playoffs, don't follow up your loss to an unranked ACC team with a 49-10 curb-stomping for your second loss. No team has ever played for the national championship with a loss like the one PSU had to Michigan.

Why is this so hard for some to understand and that's exactly what the committee emphasized after their selections. Plus, OSU's resume was second to none. They started the year ranked 128 out of 128 as far as returning starting experience in the FBS - dead last. 44 of the 85 man roster were freshman who never played a down of CF. They had to play on the road - prime time - in front of very hostile crowds at Oklahoma, Wisconsin, and PSU. Both Wisky and PSU had bye weeks before the OSU game - two weeks to prepare for OSU. Plus Michigan was the favorite in the BIG in many circles due to returning 43 seniors - many of whom will be drafted early. This OSU team should be better - a lot better - next year. Pretty awesome job by Meyer and his staff and they're definitely one of the "best" 4 teams in the country.

Well I'm alright with the four that made it my only complaint and it's a mild one is that WA and Clemson should have been flipped at the 3 and 4 spot.

I'm not surprised but I'm po'd by WI getting into the SB. I mean this is a matchup between two schools that are at least a 1000 miles from the metroplex. This isn't a playoff year for the CB. Traditionally bowls have at least one team within proximity of the game. Barry Alvarez goes out with a bang made sure he got his school in a P5 bowl. And I'm not surprised and in fact I'm certain that the SEC twisted some arms to make sure Auburn got in the Sugar Bowl. A four loss team!!!!! I hope the attendance and tv ratings are another disaster like it was last year. And maybe this time OK won't lay an egg in their bowl game. Losing to a 4 loss team would be as bad as losing to a former junior college. Finally you have the Orange Bowl. Not surprised that MI is there and they deserve it. But I guess the OB decided to go for an instate team instead of LV who blew out the Noles.

Well yes. It's just hilarious that the goal posts always move depending on needs of the committee.
2 years ago, TCU (and Baylor) were punished for not having "one true champion." tOSU was a conference champion and the committee said that was a valuable data point. Also, the committee said the Big XII was punished because it did not have a conference championship game, which deprived the conference of a valuable data point. And yet this year, tOSU not only did not get a conference championship, they didn't even get the extra championship game. The committee will even tell you that head to head doesn't determine the better team - wtf? Why play the games at all - why doesn't the committee tell us who is the best team in September and then we don't have to waste time and money watching all year long. Tell the committee to shut the f up, and just admit they have managed to take one of the great sports our country produces and reduced it to gymnastics, diving and all the other sports that aren't settled on the field, but rather by "judges" in back rooms with their "eyeball" tests.

Yeah. I go back to criteria. Whatever it is I think everyone needs to be playing by the same rules and right now they aren't.
