Does the success at Louisville make Charlies seat hotter?

Show me where they are on the field, the depth cart, and in the draft.

Even former Mack Brown GA turned cheerleader, Bobby Burton, has come around to Mack truly left an empty cupboard.
Michigan and Ohio State say hi. It's called good coaching.

Take to your grave BD, the cupboard was bare...especially on the offensive side of the ball.

....and that is a fact which exacerbated the entire situation.

No/ZERO players drafted for the first time in 77 years in Mack's curtain call is simple enough for even a fellow such as yourself to understand.

Some folks are over-sold on Herman, he is not a guaranteed trip to the promise land.
take that back..he will save us all

He is the best of the young guys who has won big, just not against a schedule. I like his chances, but you never know when I guy moves up to the big leagues. For every Urban Meyer or Art Briles who makes that jump and kills it, there are a dozen Brady Hokes, Charlie Strongs, Al Goldens, Will Muschamps, James Franklins, Shark after Darks, Derek Dooleys, Charlie Weiss, Lane Kiffins, Mark Helfricks, Ron Zooks etc......
But Herman sure feels like the real deal to me. You just never know.

I'm a fan and was around the guy some years ago. He's a good coach and the likely replacement should that be necessary.

Maybe that explains why BIG12 defenses are so bad. Assuming you have to be passive and drop 8 guys into coverage might explain a lot. Good defenses are aggressive. When A&M was a true spread team with Manziel LSU was not passive on defense. They outnumbered you in the run game and got after the QB. Sure they had elite talent, but it is possible to stop a spread team without having a passive defense.
IMO to stop the spread you need nasty DT and you need skilled cover corners that can tackle, and safeties that can run and hit. Then you need depth....
If you do not have that, you are in trouble.

Again Harbaugh and Meyer both inherited programs that had been declining and recruiting was bad and the talent was considered bad. Both made dramatic improvements Year 1. Those are good coaches. Charlie is not in their league. He was a good defensive coordinator at one time though.

Nope UT is just a black hole of talent despite W-L records prior to Strong being hired, and Michigan despite W-L record was really a bad ass team that just needed a simple spark to explode. If the roles were reversed clearly Harbaugh would be on his way out and Strong poised to make the playoffs with Watson and Bedford right by his side.

Does the cupboard was too bare crowd also believe that Gilbert wouldn't have had any success on offense for 2014 and 2015? Would he have looked just as inept as Watson / Norvell?

What are you talking about Ohio state was stacked with talent and playing well. They went 6 and 6 with an interim coach before Meyer got the job but Ohio state was 12-1 in 2010, 11-2 in 2009, 10-3 in 2008, and 11-2 in 2007 which were Tressel's last 4 years.

Yeah ok. In 2010 they had the 26th recruiting class and 2011 they had the 12th class. Meyer's first recruiting class was 4th in 2012. Not saying they were devoid of all talent and neither was Texas so what's your point? 6-6 is 6-6. The point being, Meyer came in and coached his ass off like good coaches do. My point is, coaching has a hell of a lot to do with it. Strong is not in that category and has proved it so far. Meyer had improvement from the start as did Harbaugh.

You said Ohio State declining. Ohio State was 44-8 in Tressel's last 4 years. Mack's last 4 years were 8-5, 9-4, 8-5, 5-7, Tressel's last 4 classes had 24 guys get drafted. Mack's last 4 classes had 12 guys get drafted. All Meyer did was keep what Tressel had going. Tressel got fired because he covered up some NCAA violations. Mack got fired because he got lazy, and wasn't winning.
