So let's go back in time.

LSU had fired Les and were grasping at straws to bring in a coach that could lead them. LSU is a pride filled program, so obviously they wanted a nice big name to come in and take over after Les. Well, they didn't get Tommy because, we got Tommy. So here's LSU-- the reluctant bride, not really sure about this dude but willing to spread their legs a bit and see how it works out.

Well kids, it worked out Ricky ticky. Somewhere now, the 3 of the 7 board members at LSU that voted against coach O to be the head coach, look like giant anal bead butt plugs right now that emerged at the end of a prison riot. As it stands, Texas lost to the nasty champs by one TD.

But losing to the National champs by a single TD, does not a football team make.

Kids, we have a long way to go.

Yes, we have potential, yes we played LSU well. But LSU got better throughout the year. We didn't. Not until our bowl game.

Ed O earned himself a few more seasons. I don’t know if Aranda will be back or how long they can hang on to Brady, but if he keeps hiring good assistants, he will have fooled most of us. Or, he may pull a “Gene Chizik” and get fired 2 seasons after winning it all with an extraordinaire QB. I doubt, the latter, simply because of LSU’s stronger recruiting and Is a better overall football school than Auburn.

I have a feeling ol Ed or O as the LSU now call him is a 2 faced sumbitch. Awfully interesting after the Ole Miss fiasco and no team would hire Ed as a head coach he catches on as a position coach, not DC, just a position coach like he’s always been, but somehow someway O has been there to ‘take over and help out’ for the last 2 coaches who hired him. I have a feeling Ed is an undermining backstabbing Bs artist who got where he’s at by underhanded methods, it sure as hell wasnt based on his coaching merits

Surley there's gotta be some speed in the portal for us to get! Seeing all that Speed last night makes us look like Molasses on a cold day, We always had speed back in the day, dunno why we not recruiting it anymore, we got a couple but, not enough, I miss Ramounces speed type, he might could have rolled a good one but, he was fast at it..LOL! LSU loves them fast sideline routes, Burrows got that play down pat...

Ed O is no master X & O guy, but he is an ELITE recruiter. He was the lead recruiter at USC in Pete Carrol's heyday. He is smart enough to get out of the way in actual coaching. Hate LSU, but they are a problem. Really hope losing Burrow, Jeffererson, the good little back, and hopefully Marshall pulls them back to the pack of other really good teams.

He was an NFL defensive line coach for a few years, so he can coach some.

Story goes that he was a micromanager at ol miss and that wore people out. Now he's hired guys that he trusts and has taken a step back.

I think LSU caught lightning in a bottle this year with Burrow and all those talented receivers. I think next year they are a 2-3 loss team. They are losing quite a bit on both sides of the ball to the draft or graduation. I like our chances at LSU next year with all the returning starters we have. I still can’t believe we had them on the ropes and had a chance to beat them this year.

I was listening to Jimmy Johnson this AM talking about the Cowboys. He was talking about how good his coaches were. I didn't know/remember that one of those coaches was Ed O. Jimmy said he was a very good young coach and that he knew he would do well.

The Cowboys did have some very good assistant coaches when Jimmy Johnson was coaching them. Interesting. I do not remember Orgeron coaching there.

Coach O was with Jimmy back in the Miami days I believe right before he got the Cowboys job.

Just goes to show a good Coordinator doesn’t always make a good head coach, Dave Wannstedt is the perfect example

Some times a coordinator makes a head coach appear to be better than he actually was.

Franchione and Patterson
Lewis and Zimmerman
Ditka and Ryan

But he totally bombed at ol miss. He backed into this job. He learned from his mistakes and got a bad ass QB to transfer in.

Lots of moving parts here for Ed.

Bo Pelini is the new DC for LSU. Nice hire by Ed. Ole Bo brings back memories of him trying to fake his way into a Big 12 championship. He knew damn well the clock still had 1 solid second. Nonetheless, he is a very good DC.

I think Pelini is going to be a total disaster for LSU

Screaming and getting in the face of a 3'star athlete is one thing. Screaming and getting in the face of an entitled 5'star stud is another. I guarantee that if he does that to Stingley, there is going to be huge problems. Then again, I doubt Stingley will ever give him a reason to get in his face.

Texas fans should take solace in the fact that their team lost to the Big 12 Champ and the National Champ by only a touchdown each. Add another touchdown and 2 point conversion for Texas in both of those games and Texas may be in the discussion for having one of the greatest seasons of all times instead of LSU.......I’m not sure Texas fans realize how close their team was to greatness in 2019.

We’ll see here but Bo Peliini is from the Bib Stoops era and mindset. Both were good defensive coaches when 3rd down was the obvious passing down. With offenses changing as much as they have Pelini has his work cut out for him imo.

Dude, seriously---- I don't know if the wife has stopped dropping or if you've started early onset male pattern baldness or if you're having difficulty in that "certain area" of your body, performance wise.

But your trolls, lately bro, are just dead fish. Seriously. I've fvcked sorority darlings that flopped around better than you are. The icky shuffle called and they want their dance moves back.

Be better.

Is Bo bringing Carl with him?

Let’s see... I’ve elicited 2 responses regarding my complimentary posts about the 2019 Horns football team, I’d characterize that as I’m just starting to hit my stride:D

Ed O. strikes again. Former NFL Head Coach Scott Linehan and over 8 years as an NFL offensive coordinator is the new passing game coordinator at LSU

Heard whispers about that but hadn't seen it confirmed. Grassy ass sir.

This reminds me of the time Nebraska hired Callahan and Notre Dame hired Charlie Weis. But , but ... they had NFL experience??

But, it is a little different if it is a position or coordinator rather than at the head coaching position.

I get that I'm just saying that both of those, especially Weis was bringing his NFL offensive "concepts" to Notre Dame and we all know how that all worked out.

I don't see how that makes him different from any other coach I've known.

Well lets see now. LSU had lost to AL 7 years in a row. Last year they were one of 4 SEC teams to get to a NY6 bowl game but they went 1/2 against those other NY6 teams. And while they went to the FB they got the luck of the draw because they drew an over matched UCF team.

Now we come to last year and like OK the previous 2 years they got a gift when a qb from tOSU xfrd into Baton Rouge. Because it was early in the season TX found out before anyone else that Joe Brady was on his way to the Heisman. Nobody I know of picked LSU to win the NC. And after LSU beat AL they destroyed everyone they played.

So is Ed Ogeron really the right hire? Their Heisman winner is off to the NFL. 7 players declared early for the draft and along with the seniors that will be drafted that's a lot of players to replace. And they also lost both of their coordinators. I'm going to wait and see about this coach, who has been fired not once but twice remember SC? Is this coach capable of making LSU into a blue blood? Or is he another Gene Chizik who also lucked into a 1 year qb transfer and went on to win a NC. This LSU season is very similar to the Auburn nc team I'm sure other people remember this it was only 10 years ago.

I refuse to give a coach who's been fired twice credit for being an elite coach. Time will tell.

Nailed it. I think there is a good chance that Coach Gumbo is the next Gene Chizik. IMO he's a very average coach.

And here's what y'all are missing---

A head coach isn't supposed to be out there calling the plays and beings hands on. A head coach is supposed to hire quality people to do that. He's also supposed to preside over the recruiting of quality athletes.

Ed did just that. He hired competent, quality people, that recruited quality kids, and he won with them. Now his staff has been gutted and dudes moved on to bigger jobs. If Ed can replace them with quality people, he will continue to be successful. Being a great coach isn't about the X's and O's. It's about managing PEOPLE.

I agree and I get all of that, but I think that Coach O caught lighting in a bottle last season. I just think that he'll be hard pressed to keep LSU in contention for national championships consistently.
