Ewers has been named starting QB

if brennan last all year..dude is SMALLLL... i think Cain and Omere are going to big contributors this year..and i think we will see a tight end FINALLY in a Texas offense. Sanders will be a All big 12 conference player.
All he has to do is run by the secondary in 2-3 seconds. Free him on a rub route to the outside. if they stack the box on the play action, hit him deep. Scheme him open when they stack the box. Same for Worthy. I am tired of receivers who are easy to jam and cover 1v1 with no speed.

Tyreek Hill ~ 5-10 185 soaking wet.

Good point

All the fans can do is get on board with the starter and hope it works out. Ewers has plenty of arm talent and the rest of the game will come to him. Not many qb’s have come in and knocked it out of the park from the get go without some rough patches.

In all honesty, I don’t expect Texas to beat Bama and it could get ugly, it’ll be interesting to see how Ewers reacts and how Sark reacts in that game. I think Bama is going to really get after the qb and cause problems.

Obviously it'll be imperative for Texas to establish a running game to open up the vertical passing game and maybe a short passing game, screens to get the aggressive Bama line back on their heels

I’ve been trying to think of a pro player comp for Ewers and have struggled to find someone like him in the NFL, past or present. The closest comp I can think of is a young Dan Marino.

I would say Phillip Rivers. Very similar throwing motions as well.

I'm not expecting to beat Bama...crazier stuff has happened of course. Texas will need every fortunate break and for Bama to be off. Bama will score...lots. Can we score enough to keep it respectable.

I'm hoping to keep Bama at 45 or under and for Texas to score 24 or more. 45-24 needs to be the absolute worst case scenario but where Texas is within 10 or so most of the game. 45-10 and Texas scores two trash TDs late 4Q isn't really ideal

I hope Texas wins 8 games and a bowl game for a 9-4 season. Then I'll feel like something is going.

I truly feel Texas will win a game or two they shouldn't, botch a game or two they shouldn't. But the QB position and OL will be improved enough to flip 3 games from last year.

If aggie Can beat bama at home with Calzone, then Texas Can beat bama at home with Ewers. Do I expect Texas to win? Of course not. But like you said stranger things have happened.

That's one thing I keep thinking about is that the cow college proved that you don't have to be an elite team to beat AL.

I mean they lost 4 games but they still beat AL. They started to act like aggies when AL came from behind and took the lead.

But they righted the ship and it was AL who committed penalties and didn't execute.

There's always hope.

Agreed. We need at least two significant wins among Bama, OU, OSU, and BU

The series is something like 18-14 since 1990. Hasn’t been that lopsided if you look at it that way.
True. An old guy so I try to forget the 90's. OU doing pretty good since then. Looking a little more lopsided since 2000. But never an easy game. First one was in 1955. So not expecting an easy one this year.

I think it’s pretty much .500 since I’ve been alive.
Think OU has a slight advantage. Will check. Recall the horrible Royal years from '58-65. But my first time in the Cotton Bowl was in '66. God Bless Bobby Warmack. A few years of close games and then OU back on top. Except for the 90's been that way most of the time. And almost always the games are close. 1973, 2005 and a few of the others were outliers.

OU 16-7 since Stoops in 2000. Few more years and we may get close to .500 overall. Not sure it will make much when time to focus on with Alabama and Ga. coming up. Horns get Tide this year. Ga. in Norman next year.

Looks like 8 out of the last 9 have been 1 possession games. There’s been some close ones here recently.

You're really going out on a limb there Bell. 😆

The #1 well oiled machine vs a previously 5-7 team with a new QB that hasn't played since his HS junior year, multiple true freshman in the trenches, defense known to collapse in 2nd half, and an unknown kicking game....
Yeah, if they aren't favored by more than 4 scores I'll definitely be taking Bama minus pts. We've got a Mega Millions winning ticket chance in that one.

8-4 is a great 2022 result imo.

If going by his throwing motion alone, it has to be Mahomes. Ewers main claim to Fame is his ability to throw from odd arm positions when his feet aren't set, al-la Mahomes.

To be clear, in no way am I saying he is Mahomes #2, just his throwing style is very similar. On his footwork, Favre or Big Ben-ish.

But he wasn’t. He has the chance to learn under one of the best OC/QB coaches at OSU under Ryan Day, and now with Sark.

Either way, I think he has a lot more upside than Card. I’m excited to watch him play which is the opposite I would’ve felt if Card was the starter.
Yeah, I think most would put those two - and Lincoln Riley - at the very top of the QB-teaching food chain. If I remember correctly, Day was a QB coach in the NFL
