Former Kansas football coach David Beaty will visit Austin this week and help Texas prepare to face Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship Game, according to a source within the program.
From what I was told, Beaty is being brought in for multiple reasons.
First, Kansas scored 40 points and registered 524 offensive yards during a recent 55-40 loss against Oklahoma. Beaty is being asked to point out things his team did well offensively against Oklahoma during the loss.
More importantly, Beaty will give an opposing view and point out the things he saw while game-planning for Texas' defense the past two years.
The goal of Beaty's visit is to learn Texas’ offensive and defensive tendencies, signals that tipped off opposing teams, and anything other opposing insight he can provide.
However, I was told Beaty’s appearance in Austin is not a job interview.
Herman recently said Beaty was a good friend, and it appears the former Kansas coach is simply providing Texas with a different perspective prior to facing Oklahoma on Saturday in the Big 12 Championship Game.
