Hey Augie...

Finally, we’ll end this week’s War Room with an update on Texas baseball coach Augue Garrido.

After speaking with several high-level sources this week within the Texas athletic department, it still rather murky as it relates to what will happen following the season. Although there is a strong sense change needs to take place, I don’t know that there is anyone behind the scenes that is leading the charge for change to take place.

When I asked one source on Thursday about the situation with Garrido, I was told that ultimately Texas athletic director Mike Perrin will play a key role in whatever decisions are made once the seasons ends. I asked another source with knowledge of the situation on Wednesday whether there was a sense that a plan was in place once the season ended or if any the wheels were in motion to find a replacement if change is made, and the word I received is that things just aren’t that far along yet.

In fact, I have the sense that there’s hope inside the athletic department that Garrido will make the decision easy on everyone involved by taking the decision-making out of the hands of Perrin by announcing his retirement, but there are zero indications at this point that Garrido has any such plans.

Basically, this is a situation that is still unfolding and you can describe it as fluid.

Stay tuned. (Ketch)

Well, we suck again. Dropped both games of the doubleheader to Okie State, 3-0 and 6-3. Had our customary multiple ridiculous errors in each game, leading to six unearned runs out of the nine OSU scored.

As for Ketch's update, if Perrin isn't going to be proactive here, what is the point of having him as our temporary AD? Hire someone who will do the f***ing job.

Recent performance aside, I'd just like to say that I really enjoy listening to Augie talk about the game of baseball. Wouldn't it be great if we could get him to do color commentary for the games on LHN after he retires?

Thought Augie's contract ended following this season...perhaps I'm mistaken? Could not confirm in search's.

Folks, just get used to 2 more seasons of Augieball. He'll end 2016 with ~1975 wins. There's a good chance he ends 2017 only a few games short of 2000. After 20 years at Texas, there's no way the BTP don't let him come back in 2018 to reach the 2000 milestone. Now, we could get lucky and next year's team win >25 games. That way he can retire at the end of his current contract having achieved his goal.

This is a true post.

And as much as I love the guy. It seems like lately he needs a bad year like this to fuel him to a better year the following year.

Not sure he is done yet. But he is pretty close. Tough team to watch. And we have talent on the team and on the staff. Frustrating to see it squandered.

WVU gets out the brooms. Horns lose 9-5 to fall to 21-27 on the season. Outscored 34 runs to 14 over the last three games, with most of ours coming after WVU had built large leads. Our RPI was 128 after yesterday's asskicking.

Horns fall to Texas f*cking State (RPI 160), 3-2, ending our 24-game winning streak over the Bobcats.

On the tiny chance that it might have some minute effect, please send a note to Mike Perrin and Greg Fenves emphasizing that there must be a change after the season's end.

The great Bill King (who still has the best college football talk show anywhere) said it best; "You don't get to keep it forever "

21-29 after 2-1 loss to the Baylor fvcking Bears. I hope Perrin is on the way to Charlottesville...

Dan McDonnell at Louisville has done a really nice job too.

It's a shame the UCLA coach isn't a more desirable candidate. His name (Savage) would be a nice fit here.

Augie Garrido didn’t hesitate to tackle his future as head coach at Texas directly Wednesday morning. It was the first time the legendary head coach, who is just 151-121 over his last four-plus seasons, appeared like someone that knows next season isn’t promised.

And after talking with a couple of sources about that topic, they agreed – Garrido, despite making it clear Wednesday he wants to coach next season, is starting to come to the realization that he might not make it to next season. That might not seem like quite the revelation on the surface, but it is different from the past, and speaks to the climate and conversation around the Texas program right now. It seems like more and more people at Texas are realizing what’s required to get the program back to its top-of-the-mountain heights. (McComas)

Hey, where can you find Bill King's show? I listened all the time when he was on the College Sports station on Sirius XM. I agree that he is the best.

Another humiliating defeat for the Longhorns. It's too bad this team will qualify for the Big 12 tournament, because I'd really like tomorrow's game to put an end to this disaster. Augie's so far away from 2,000 wins now that coming back for the last year of his contract wouldn't make any difference. How do you want the $300,000, Augie? Small bills?

Good grief. Can it get any more embarrassing than this? Perrin, please do the right thing and let's move on in a new, fresh direction in baseball. And this coming from a big Augie Garrido fan/supporter.

That's 30 losses for the second time ever. Sixth losing season in 121 years (including our 0-1 inaugural "season").

Since we're virtually certain not to win the Big 12 tournament (or make it to the final unscathed), we're looking at tying our all-time record of 32 losses at the very least. With another loss to Baylor, we'll be a virtual lock to reach 33 losses.

Unbelievable. Let's hope the last three weeks have forced the hand of anyone who was content to let Augie just finish out his contract.

I have faithfully followed this baseball team since Bibb Falk's second stint at Head Coach and I can truthfully say that I'm never been so disgusted. This team's performance is so far from the Texas standard that the degree of deviation cannot be accurately measured.
