Although the game warden stated on the local radio that this would be a great year for horns, we didn't see it. Did see many baldies, a few 6's, 7's and a beautiful young 10pt (who couldn't have been over 3 1/2 and will be great in a couple of years), but nothing worth shooting. If it doesn't improve, we will likely be killing does later in the season.
Did see a sh!tload of pigs, and although mostly nocturnal, did pop a couple.
Anyone else have any luck while sitting out the ISU debacle last weekend?

Dropped an opening day 8pt just to get something in the freezer. Apparently people in my area live by "brown & down" so anything worth bragging about only visits 11p-3am.

Aaaaaaaaaand I'm guessing you lost your GPNVGs which would assist in such a nocturnal undertaking...........

Deer doing what deer do. Have they started chasing does where you're at yet? That usually makes them slip up.

Yes.... well, the little bucks have. There's dead 4 pointers all over 46 and FM725. That first cold snap kicked off the little ones.

Not down here. Everything exciting happens pretty late in the season for me. Our back yard is fenced off from the rest of the property & for a good 7months you can hand feed Fritos to deer through the fence.

Acorns drop, shots fired, they go radio silent.

Pffffft, supply guys already knew that someone stole them when I promoted to civilian.

Word of note: Ain't nothing illegal about hunting axis and hogs when the lights go out. Once tweaked, 300blk shines under the stars.

In the blind right now and have dropped 4 tree rats while waiting for feeder time. I'm infested with those damn things.
Gamo Silent Cat with a box of PBA platinum pellets is too much fun.

Jesus-- you should see the scurry of squirrels in my back yard. Yes, scurry-- look that sh!t up you bunch of grammar heathens.

Gamo silent cat is listed for $180. And if I get one, I'll be eating squirrel for months. And I've eaten squirrel-- not a fan.

You’re not cooking it the right way. I always like to make a stew with the meat. Kind of hides that game taste.

Stew? So you can't marinate them in butter milk and Italian dressing for 3 days and smoke them?

One of the best basketball tournament hospitality rooms I've gone to (Harper HS), had squirrel stew.

Peta does not approve but man, I just drop em and leave em. Something gets fed overnight because there's never even a trace left behind by next morning. Maybe I'll set up a game cam out of curiosity.

If I'm feeling froggy I'll quarter them like buffalo wings, throw them in a pressure cooker to soften up then straight to a hot grill or fryer. I swear you'd have a hard time differentiating between rat and Buffalo Wild Wings.
