Yep. Power, fast internet, working toilets and water -- all are either essential or end up feeling so.Its having no electricity,no A/c for days that I would really dislike,You do not appreciate it until its gone.
The eye went right over top of cuero. I wonder if Metcalf is in one piece.
Worried about Metcalf for other reasons too. Dude hasn't even logged on for more than a year.
A sports angle to this - The Texas Rangers refused to exchange their home series vs.Astros in September with the road series vs. Astros this week, forcing Astros to move the games this week to Tampa. Now that is sorry. This is turning into an angry rivalry.
Classless move by the Rangers. I hope there is a lot of public condemnation heaped on them for this.
The rangers were looking at it as a way to stick it to the Astros not the actual city, and to their point switching wouldn't actually help anyone other than the Astros, but it's horrible optics none the less.

Now that I have re read your post I understand a little more the Rangers point of view......
Now I absolutely know it was a shit classless move by a shitty organization. It would have cost them nothing...they are not going anywhere this season...sold their best pitcher because they were out of it and were just playing out the string. Bad optics?...that was about the worst move I ever witnessed from any sports organization anywhere any time. I suspect the rangers will discover condemnation from all of baseball when this story gets out. ...All for a chance to stick it to Houston. good luck to the Rangers going forward....they will need it.
Dude, that sucks balls. But as long as your mom is ok, all that other stuff can be rebuilt. Chin up.Hey guys, I won't be too active on here for a while. My mom's house, in Beaumont, got flooded. The entire neighborhood is wiped out, probably 6-8 feet in the house and not much of it is gone at this point. I'll be heading that way soon, whenever the water starts going down.
I'm hoping for good Texas football to lift my spirits while we work on the recovery process.

I know I should be thankful, and I am, but this is getting old:
- Panic-buying of gasoline
- Shortages of gasoline / Long lines at any station that actually has some (and we're in central Texas)
- Price gouging
Am I correct in hearing that a lot of these folks may not have had flood insurance due to living well away from water but they flooded and their homeowners insurance may not cover? If that's the case I can see a lot of folks just walking away and saying f$$ck it if they still owe money on their house but insurance won't cover. That could really throw the banking industry into a tailspin. That sucks. I feel for you and your family. So many people in Southeast have lost a lot. That's what insurance is for. At least you still have your mom and no one perished.
Hook'em!

Sorry to hear of your loss. Will her insurance cover the loss ?Hey guys, I won't be too active on here for a while. My mom's house, in Beaumont, got flooded. Sadly...less than 20 % of those in Houston had flood insurance.....It was the same with Ike in Galveston. What are people thinking? I know shops in Galveston were closed for over a year if not forever because "I couldnt afford the insurance"
I am not gonna rag on those poor souls that are now in a bad position, but I am not sure everyone thought it all through.
It could get very interesting. If the debt ceiling is stalled, if this other hurricane comes on shore, if the insurance companies fear no new tax reform, this storm could seriously fvck up the economic balance.Am I correct in hearing that a lot of these folks may not have had flood insurance due to living well away from water but they flooded and their homeowners insurance may not cover?
