2017 QB Sam Ehlinger is supposed to be that other one for us.
I forgot about him. He's tough too. Do you think he steals the job from Beuchele?

Good question. I'd rather have 2 good QBs than 0 though.I forgot about him. He's tough too. Do you think he steals the job from Beuchele?

Scholz this brings up a good point. Charley had some success at Louisville and was hired by Texas I assume because Texas liked what system he ran at Louisville and the success he had. Texas is on their 3rd OC in as many years and the D finished like 107th in the nation last year. It seems to me that Charley isn't running anywhere near the O or D that he ran at Lousville. Does it concern you that he appears to not have an identity or do you think he has been able to learn on the go and the new o system will be successful? Most teams have seemingly had 3 QBs better than our starter lately. We're cautiously optimistic that comes to an end this season, especially with our new OC and offense and O line.
Imagine telling Ehlinger to redshirt?
A little different, his parents both went to UT and he grew up in Austin.
I thought we were discussing this year as the game is this year.
According to Phil Steele ND returns only 24 OL starts in '16. Is that correct? http://www.philsteele.com/Blogs/2016/JUNE16/DBJune13.html
Just don't trust lying $ooners that's all. You scumbags don't own up when you lose.
Blame your fellow Sooners for never live up to those bets.
Though it's yet to be proven that I would squelch on a bet. Try me out! I really want to see you with an avatar of my choice. I'm sure you have a juicy one for me. Not that I'd lose though.
I dont speak for anyone other than myself. F*ck 'em if they cant own up to it.
Texas hired him because he is a good football coach that developes players! He wasn't thrown into the best situation with QB's and they've since recruited several of their own. As for system, he wants to be a power run type spread attack like his buddy in Ohio and that's exactly what they're going to run.Scholz this brings up a good point. Spur he has to develop talent to fit his system. This is the 3rd system in as many years. It seems like kids have been playing musical chairs having to learn new systems. I've seen many on here and in general who have complained about his game management and some have suggested he may be better suited as a coordinator rather that a complicated total game manager. Do you agree with their opinion or have you seen enough progress from him at Texas to still believe he's the guy? ThanksTexas hired him because he is a good football coach that developes players! If you don't think Texas is getting better......through getting much better talent......through better offensive coaching...then you are going to be in for a rude awakening. Look at the kids coming to Texas AFTER 2 losing seasons......now imagine Texas starts winning again which will happen for sure.....keep burying your head sooner, it will make it that much sweeter when Texas is top dog again.Bulldozer stop with facts. Didn't you know Texas is turning things around?

Spur with all due respect, Stoops and Strong are not comparable in the least? Strong has 2 losing season in a row to start out, 3 OC's and a defense ranked 107 to end the second season. Stoops has made personel moves but has had success evidenced by his win/loss record, I don't think Texas stays down forever but I'm just trying to see the full picture. One game does not make the season. Are you saying you are content beating OU but having a losing win/loss record? Surely not.I've had moments of agitation,no different than OU getting out played physically and out coached overall the past 2 years in Dallas. He'll be fine. You have to have quality QB play to be successful on offense, Stoops is not immune to this as we've seen. Stoops has altered staff on multiple occasions. It's part of the process. The defensive woes last year were growing pains, this staff knows defense and the kids are now seasoned.
I think the right staff is on the forty!
I'm saying its a complete rebuild that is going well on flipping the roster. Watson is his fault and it's really only 2 OC's but who cares. They weren't that far off last year running a shitload of kids on to the field. There were several bad losses that got in my craw, but I really like how the stars are lining up. Stoops is a good coach, but he sucks in the big games! I hope he's there for many moons. 60 freshmen to sophomores, 25 juniors to 5th year seniors. Charlie has flipped the roster, now it's time to move forward and not back.Spur with all due respect, Stoops and Strong are not comparable in the least? ...and he instills toughness and discipline, is involved with his players and coaches, has incredible energy, and sets a high ethical standard. I hate to say it, but together with what TexExSpur wrote, Charlie Strong is the anti-Mack.Texas hired him because he is a good football coach that develops players!
Do you even post on any sooner site? Good bad or indifferent you seem more interested in the Longhorns than the sooners.

Thought you didn't come here to talk trash, liar.Bulldozer stop with facts. Didn't you know Texas is turning things around?
5 defensive linemen and 6 offensive lineman. That will be some decent depth for a change. We're up to 61 freshmen and sophomores with Hudson now. Crazy. (And we'll probably be down at least a couple of more JRs and SRs before our first game.)
Let me get this straight. You think it is ludicrous for Texas fans to believe that they will be better this year than last? Arguably, the defensive line is the only group of the entire team that may take a slight step backward.Texas fans want everyone to believe since January they are now better

Defense: Better and more experienced linebacking crew. Secondary, finally more than just freshman and talented.
Offense: Two stud running backs and excellent receiving group. An offensive line that is no longer a bunch of freshmen. I will give you that our QB is a wildcard, but, at the very least, whoever plays will be at least the same or better.
Soldier I think my prediction is more realistic but we will see
Well then we Texas fans will just give up and quit watching football then. I mean if oumoron says Texas will NEVER be better than the last 2 years no matter ANY NEW coaches or no matter ANY NEW players then Texas will never win again. Whoa is me whoa is me. What a stupid ignorant lying statement you just made. Only in a stupid sooners mind is Texas NOT getting better! Everyone in the country EXCEPT sooners think Texas is going to be tough in the future.Bass I post here and mostly on the CC pay board. Unlike other Texas and Oklahoma fans I won't sugarcoat things. Some people on both sides want it to be all dandelions and rainbows and it's just not the case. Texas fans want everyone to believe since January they are now better and Ou fans want everyone to believe the Sooners will win the title this year . I seriously doubt either happens.
I don't necessarily believe that Baylor will be down this coming year. They have a ton of offensive talent, and as it stands right now they are keeping the staff and scheme in place. I believe the year after next is when you see the effects of this scandal on Baylor on the field. The talent on OLine is crazy good compared to the last 2 years. QB should finally get solidified in another year. Really like what we have coming in at WR. Running backs good. I mean if you can't see there has been significant upgrades across the board, you are just blind. I don't like starting a freshman at QB and so I'll temper my enthusiasm for next year. Still think they can get to 8-4 just because Baylor and TCU are going to be down. Starting in 2017 I expect us to compete for the conference for a long time. D struggled last year, and a lot of that was leadership. We lost NFL players at all 3 levels and Brown was a beast. DE's were terrible as well. Really need Fowler on campus as he'll give some speed on the outside. DE and TE are really my only concerns going forward. Rest of the roster is now deep or soon will be with QB in 2017. Baylor bellying up was a huge win for us at need positions.
Better as in 7-5? Sure. But to act as though rival fans should be scared or as though things are really turning around is ridiculous in my opinion. If I'm wrong I'll admit it and I've even thrown out a couple of wagers. Right now to automatically assume positions will be better or improved is strictly 100% guessing and predicting. Not just for y'all but for Oklahoma as well
