In Austin this weekend ...

If the Austin law saying it's ok for homeless to pitch a tent in public areas is not defeated by Gov. Abbott, I hope it doesn't turn into San Franfeces! And it's funny how they're not allowed at the court house or govt buildings. Bureaucrats taking care of themselves.
Or within a mile of any of the councils home.

I'm a big fan of Black's BBQ over in Lockhart whenever I'm in the area.....great food and vibe in that place....

You guys have to remember, this guy is from Georgia. They don't have BBQ there, so anything in Austin will be amazing to him. Lol

Archdawg, wherever you go, make sure you get brisket. Save that pork crap for when you're back home. Lol

Lol

I heard Valentina's bbq food truck is pretty good. Not sure of the location.

The Austin Area has some of the finest barbecue in the the Universe. But for me, I like to take the short drive out to Lockhart for some Kritzer's or Blacks BBQ. However if you must stay in the Austin Area and likely won't make it in time for Franklin's. Try Blacks, or Terry Black's, or Cooper's, or Iron Works. All very good and you won't be disappointed. I have friends I trust that tell me La Barbecue was fantastic, but I can't vouch for that one.

Honestly, you are a tourist and anyone that knows BBQ knows that you have to experience Franklin's just once so you can say you went there. Oh and get a shirt that says you went there.

I went to terry blacks.

Nobody mentioned Mexican food? I like the chile relleno at Z Tejas. Matt's El Rancho is iconic. Always heard about La Fonda San Miguel, but never went.

He prolly has no reference to Mexican food. They don't have it in Georgia. Well, taco bell.

It's been a while since I went to Terry Blacks, how was your experience.

It was a line out the door and mostly tourists. I was shocked at how many tourists there were in Austin. Expensive food and I made the mistake of ordering a beef rib with the brisket. I took some home and ate it for lunch the next day.

How was that a mistake? I call it "perfect planning".

I discovered Torchy's in Houston, I lived about 2 minutes from one. And I couldn't get enough of that place. As far as food goes, it's pretty good, I can think of several places here in San Antonio that is better, but the atmosphere is awesome.

I still eat at Torchy's here in San Antonio just so I can enjoy the atmosphere.

and by atmosphere I mean the ladies.

I understand---- but something you have to understand about Texas is that------- well----- we like making a profit. And Godzillatron makes us a sh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!t ton of money.

Then we should be buying every good FB player in the US instead of kissing their asses to come here to play...Money equals Power,

graffitti?....back in the day the best of the best was at Van's on 19th ( back when there was a 19th) and Guadalupe....you could be standing at the urinal doing what you do at a urinal and 5 guys with their wives would walk in and "tour" the place reading it all....
What year(s) was that? I don't remember Van's.

Now-a-days it's difficult to fly under the radar. It's not just the NCAA, it's also the IRS. Just ask LSU. SMU is a prime example of when the boosters get careless or too open in their cheating. The easiest way to buy players is SEC way.

Booster from School A shuffles money to athlete so that he goes to school B.. Booster from School B gives a kid money so he could attend School A. In this way no one is breaking rules.

All you have te do is get a booster with deep pockets who is willing to toss money around. A good example might be a booster from Texas and a booster from Ole Miss or South Carolina. Generally the two schools don't recruit the same circles so they can work together to for the betterment of both schools.

Here is an example of what I'm talking about. Texas wants Bijan Robinson and South Carolina wants Zach Evans. USCe booster gives Robinson and his family 100,000 to sign with Texas while a Texas booster gives Zach Evans 100,000 to sign with USCe. if caught neither school with get into trouble because said player never signed with their school.

The big problem is no one wants to help Texas, just like no one wants to help Bama. This works better when it's a school like aggy and Ole Miss, or Tennessee and NCSU. Get my meaning.

That’s crazy. Auburn just laundered the cash through Cam Newton’s dads church. Ncaa found it, but couldn’t or wouldn’t mete out punishment.

It's not Austin, but didn't want to start another thread. I will be in Wimberly at the end of the month with a group of 12 adults. Any must have food choices (within reasonable driving distance)

Wimberly is a very nice place. I would recomend Blue Hole..... not a place to eat but a great place to jump out of a tall tree into the river. I used to drink much beer b4 doing this but not something I would recommend. ;)

Leaning Pear. It's on the other side of the creek. There's a nearby bakery, don't remember the name. If you don't know the town, there's a cool roadside park on 32 just past Riley's on the backbone and the Devil's backbone tavern. Lots of memorials for folks whose ashes were scattered there, great view. Wimberley Cafe for Bkfst and lunch.
