We’re thinking of getting an IR sauna and it looks like Clear Light and Sunlighten are the two premier options. Anyone have experience with either?

Joe Rogan told Tony Hawk that Laird Hamilton told him that infrared saunas are inferior to regular saunas. Hope this helps.
But for real, it would be convenient for the infrared one. It seems like a regular sauna would be better.

Anybody combine it with cold water therapy? If so, what’s your setup?

Comparing regular saunas to infrared saunas is comparing apples to oranges. It makes you think the guy quoted on Joe Rogan doesn't have a clue what an infrared sauna even is.

Put some respeck on Laird Hamilton’s name. You don’t get invited to be a guest on The Sauna Talk podcast if you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Laird Hamilton may be entitled to respect on other issues, and on just having a really cool name, but the evidence says he doesn't know squat about infrared saunas.

Been looking at that company. Which one did you get
We purchased the S 820 and works great for where we wanted to place in our house. Fits perfect. However I like the size of the S 825 if you have the extra room and the higher voltage.

Are you still enjoying the IR sauna?

@alex Text or PM if you want some details on Saunas or Ice Baths. Battleship doesn't know what he is talking about. I don't think there is a huge difference between the two but I do think the traditional does a much better job on the breathing side of things. The IR heats the suana just fine but they make many claims that they can't back.

Some you boys just need to get out and bail some hay in the summer heat. 😁
All joking aside, ive always wondered if there really is a significant health benefit to using saunas. I just bought a home that has a sauna and it’s piqued my interest.

We got a regular hot stone one and had it built in to our master bath during construction. If you’re really interested, PM me, I’ll dig up the name of the company we bought the kit from.

Google the large, Finnish study that was done on sauna use. The findings in that study are pretty astounding. I think it showed a 40% decrease in all-cause mortality when sauna was used 4-6 times per week. The saunas they use there are dry saunas, which get hotter than IR saunas, which I think is why some people recommend dry sauna over IR.

Slightly off topic....I visited us cryo therapy off 35th in Austin a few weeks ago, did their cold room and then red light therapy room right after, simply amazing. Cold room froze my ass off but took the pain of my arthritic shoulders from bench pressing away all together. Red light therapy smoothed out my skin especially on my face..fascinating. I'll return for both as warranted by my runs and gym workouts.

infared goes deeper. Heats you up from the inside out. Traditional saunas bake you like in an oven.

Infared are recommended for detox.

I agree with you. Infrared are far cheaper and more practical for the house too. I just thought it was important to note that about the study.

A traditional dry sauna is much harder to install for in-home use for sure. I think that is why the interest in IR. At least that's why I am looking into details of how the two are different.

My wife from bam goes to an infrared sauna place and swears by it….about what did it run you to buy and install the S820?

We have the Sunlighten Mpulse and love it. Greatly helps my sleep when I use it in the evening.
