Charlie Strong's first Junior Day commitment of his Texas tenure is in, and it's out of left field. Huntsville (Huntsville) offensive lineman Ronnie Major arrived at today's event a Baylor commitment but changed his pledge to Texas this afternoon.
About Major...
The first thing that sticks about him is his size. Major appears to be a legit 6-5 or 6-6 lineman with long arms and a slender, for an offensive lineman, and lean build that should be able to really carry more good weight over time. With his long arms, Major shows the ability to get good extension and has some strength in his lower half. He looks like a prospect that moves better north-south than he does laterally at this point.
What does this mean for Texas?
Well, it appears like Joe Wickline did what Wickline tends to do throughout his career - he found a tall player with a good build that will add more weight and a player that could play tackle. And although Major isn't a heavily recruited player at this point, flipping a player from Baylor to Texas right away during the first Junior Day does give Texas a little momentum.
