Cliff Notes: Texas lands a much needed front-court piece.

Arthur Kaluma Stats per ESPN

Kaluma committed to the University of Texas this afternoon and is yet ANOTHER transfer win for the Longhorns. You couple this with landing guys like Tre Johnson at the high school ranks, it makes you wonder if this can be replicated every year.

The Kansas State transfer visited Texas this week and while he had awesome things to say about the Longhorns, he followed it up with announcing that Texas and SMU were in his top two. Texas winning out here definitely puts a bandaid on the JT Toppin miss, and provides another excellent, proven player on a part of the floor that the Horns were struggling to find talent at. Bolstering their front court was absolutely what Rodney Terry and staff needed to do, and they delivered in a pretty big way.

I’m curious to see how the minutes will be divided up amongst the other front court players on the roster, as Kaluma can play in big, and small ball line ups. He brings a floor spacing, energy, and defensive element that will only bolster this squad moving forward. He puts the ball on the floor well for his size and can do a little bit of everything. Long story short, the Horns got a really good one here and I look for him to be a substantial part of the rotation moving forward.

Enjoy:
